  1. Shaw has been fantastic for at least a month or so now.
  2. It is sold out. The game actually isn't blacked out in Detroit.
  3. It would help if they'd catch the ball.
  4. Uh, NU shot horribly. 28 of 84 from the floor for 33% and 34% from beyond the arc. Illinois was the team that shot 50%. That was easily one of the worst performances since the beginning of last year. Just terrible. Maybe 2nd only to the game at Minnesota last year. They had no idea how to run the offense and the defense was an open gate. No idea how they stayed in the game.
  5. At the very least he has a much cooler voice.
  6. I'd like to see a poor pooch kick, fair catch, and GW FG.
  7. there's a reason these teams are 7-5 And yet neither team wants to play defense this half. 55 points scored in the 2nd half if this holds (questionable) and pending the PAT. That was a drop.
  8. Idaho wasted 8 seconds despite a penalty that stopped the clock momentarily to throw a 1 yard pass over the middle in coverage.
  9. Well that was a pretty good way to finish up a record-setting career.
  10. I'm happy to see some "cooler" weather forecasted for Tampa. And by cooler I mean low to mid 60s. Now if the rain could only be replaced by cloudy skies.
  11. That was one of the stupidest illegal blocks in the back I've seen.
  12. When are refs going to start blowing the whistle when the play should be over? Preferably before a guy gets driven back 20 yards.
  13. I don't believe there's any dew on the grass. Heck, there's barely any grass.
  14. I think we should name Shaw the team MVP for the 2nd half of the season.
  15. That's what, 20 straight possessions with a turnover?
  16. It didn't help that Knight's bitching about the refs taking too long over something that didn't really matter much kept getting louder and more frequent.
  17. Ohio State knows how to stay in the news:
  18. Just saw the end of yesterday's Butler/Xavier game. Xavier really got screwed, but not because of the decision to end the game. The same clock glitch happened with 40-50 seconds left and while I only saw it once, could have put Butler's go-ahead basket in jeopardy. In addition, the jumpball call that gave Butler the ball back to set up the game winning shot was clearly a foul. Also, kudos to Musburger, Knight, and the entire production crew for thinking that the officials would put time back on instead of take time off for the entire 10-15 minute review.
  19. West Ham got screwed on a penalty call and Lampard had to kick it 3 times before it counted.
  20. Stanford is not a bad team, either. They only averaged 11 TOs per game coming into today, and NU forced 18 or something. Go 'Cats! Stanford really isn't a good team this year. They have 2 home losses already to not great teams, and a bad loss at San Diego as well, coupled with zero decent wins. Their best effort was an OT loss to Kentucky on a neutral floor. No, they're not good, but they're also not bad. Unfortunately, the start of the Big Ten season won't be kind to NU. @ Illinois vs. MSU non-conference break against Texas Pan-American @ Michigan vs. Wisconsin vs. Purdue @ Ohio State (woo Gus Johnson) vs. Illinois @ Minnesota @ Michigan State We'll certainly lose some momentum, but it gets easier after that with 2 against Penn State, 2 against Iowa, 2 against Indiana, and a home game against Michigan. Also home against Minnesota and @ Wisconsin. And I won't complain about only getting Purdue and Ohio State once. And speaking of mediocre Pac-10 teams, USC beat Tennessee by 22.
  21. NU hit 20 of 47 3 pointers last Sunday and made just 6 of 25 with a bunch of missed FTs today, but still beat Stanford. A home game against Central Connecticut State stands in their way of entering Big Ten play with a 10-1 record, which will set up a likely 12-1 non-conference record after games at home against Texas Pan-American (January) and Chicago State (March). Thankfully Butler pulled it out today against Xavier.
  22. As much as Texas wants to be taken more seriously as an academic institution, they're doing too well right now athletically to make that kind of change.
  23. Great article about the financial implications of the current bowl system. There's a lot about how much individual schools are losing on individual bowl games, but it comes down to this:
  24. It looks like two Ohio State players will be ineligible for the Rose Bowl: At least Tressel isn't living in a fantasy world. He's also doing a bang-up job keeping up with his students' academic achievement.
