  1. Shhh, making fun of Raisin is much better. He's right, you know, Derwood. CHICAGO CUBS Hitters AB R H BI BB K LO AVG M. Lawton LF 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .269 T. Walker 2B 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .304 D. 2. Selig said on PTI a week or so ago that there is a young player in the retesting/appeal stages. The test results were supposedly iffy, so we'll see if anything comes from that.
  3. Not going to speculate, but if anything does come from this and you assume that he would have stopped taking steroids a month or two ago when he would have tested positive, he has still pitched really, really well since then. Of course, I don't know how long the healing effects from steroids last.
  4. Yeah, Pat is quite talented. Such a great voice and a superb memory. And there are a ton of Len fans on this board. He really knows his stuff compared to other television PBP guys I've listended to and seems to be quite prepared. But he's also pretty smooth in the booth and calls a great game. I really enjoy listening to both (and you, of course).
  5. Marquette? That makes at least three broadcasters in the Cubs organization that have ties to Marquette. Len Kasper is a graduate (1993) and Pat Hughes has called Marquette basketball games in the off-season.
  6. Apparently the Chats forum wouldn't let regular users post in these threads, but all should be fine now. Sorry, everyone!
  7. No responses yet? Some interesting stuff. Gotta love hearing from the coaches.
  8. Lower back stiffness is a heck of a lot better than a reinjured groin.
  9. Another 3-hit game for Ronny with a pair of RBIs to go along with a double and a walk.
  10. Yup. Houston's offense is just plain bad.
  11. Sure looked like it caught plenty of the corner. Holbrook has missed a few so far. Not that one, though.
  12. Recently? He lead the majors last year with the most GIDPs.. He's well behind that pace this season and still behind Neifi in that category.
  13. TWalk turned on that inside fastball nicely.
  14. Mr. Dopirak- As a power hitter, what's the one situation you just love to be in at the plate both in terms of count and runners on base. What goes through your mind when you step in the box in that situation? Mentally, do you find it easier to hit with the bases empty or are you able to concentrate more with men in scoring position? What was it like playing in a few Cactus League games with the Cubs the past couple of springs? In a recent MiLB.com article, Coach Zisk mentioned that you had few mechanical problems earlier this season. What was he referring to? And speaking of Zisk, what is it like working with him? Thanks!
  15. Forgot to mention this last night: Prior's control while warming up in the bullpen before the game was TERRIBLE. He paced around a bit and missed consistently in the dirt and inside to would-be righties. And for the first time that I've seen, they actually had Matt Lawton stand in with a bat in the bullpen for Mark. Then Rothschild stood in from the other side of the plate (but without a bat). With his control last night, I'll take a quality start every time.
  16. Boise fell just short in their ninth inning comeback. 10-1 the final.
  17. Peoria's game was suspended. It'll restart at noon tomorrow and will go a full nine innings. The game scheduled for tomorrow will go just seven. Has anyone seen this shirt at DaytonaCubs.com? http://www.skiltech.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000018/roadtoshow.jpg They also have Dopirak, Walker, and Moore jersey t-shirts.
  18. Bad throw, but Lee made a bad effort on that one.
  19. I don't think he'll be able to read that reply.
