He still has a ways to go with his command of the strike zone, but I was mostly concerned with the the poor hitting when he made contact. And it'll be interesting to see what happens when he starts working with Clines again... I also don't really care what he brings to the team this season, but it is important for him to get plenty of ABs in the big leagues before next season, IMO.
Abercrombie drops Bacon's fly ball and it's now 6-1. The Diamond Jaxx have batted around in the 11th. By the way, very nice start by Marmol: 6 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts. His ERA drops to 2.81.
Pignatiello pitched two perfect innings in relief. 9-0 Iowa through 8. Sisk with a flair to center and two runs score! Montanez holds at second and it's 3-1 Diamond Jaxx!
With Pie (hopefully) coming off the DL tomorrow and the possibility of Patterson being called back up (just my speculation), I'd imagine one of the West Tennessee OFers will be promoted to Iowa. Could it be Greenberg to Iowa until rosters expand with Coats vacating CF?
Perhaps he's packing his bags right now. I'd rather him work for a couple of more weeks down there. The atmosphere at Wrigley is going to be hostile, anyways, so waiting until 99% of the fans have accepted the season might be a good idea.
Both Patterson and Mitre are out. Corey finishes 3-3 with 2 HRs, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Mitre went 5 shutout innings, giving up just 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. He had a groundout to flyout ratio of 11 to 2. Carmen in to pitch for the I-Cubs.
I changed the Iowa starter from Piggy to Mitre, who's making the start tonight. Carmen looks to be out of the rotation. I think Darin Downs should be going for Boise on an extra day of rest (because of the Veal promotion), but I'm not sure about that. And I'm less sure about the Mesa starter. It's either Pawelek or whoever pitched the game 6 days ago that never had the box score.
Pie's been on the DL for nearly two months now. I'd settle for Cedeno getting some playing time. As for the "incident," Dusty didn't lie on the spot. The official word of lower back pain was already given in the press box the half-inning before the interview. Whether or not that's a lie remains to be seen. Personally, I don't care much.
Hard to tell. Z went to the clubhouse, and there appreared to be some confusion in the dugout. The Weurtz got up in the pen. z walked into the dugout shaking his head. rothschild came up to him, but z did the finger across the throat thing and walked right past him to the clubhouse. rothschild followed him for a second with a confused look on his face before turning around. Interesting. Of course, he was close to being done anyways and he didn't have it tonight.
