  1. You mean aside from the glove, arm, power, speed, and future?
  2. All of them except for Iowa's video feed, yeah. Even Boise's video feed for home games is free.
  3. But how late in the delivery could Prior see Patterson out of the corner of his eye? That was his explanation, but I don't see how realiable a quick peak would be, especially if he still had time to change his mind and swing away. Corey might not have started running at the very start of the pitcher's delivery, but he did go well before the ball was released. But the main point is that ultimately, it wasn't Corey's fault and Sullivan's article made it seem like it was.
  4. Did you hear Dusty say that quote that was in Sullivan's article about not being sure if he was taught how to squeeze in the minors? Was he referring to Corey or Mark?
  5. A squeeze is called, you do what you're supposed to do. If you're in the batter's box, you can't possibly be 100% sure that a player isn't breaking. You have way too much to worry about and you simply cannot be looking at the runner on third. Corey DID hustle. He DID what he was supposed to do. He didn't do anything wrong. If Prior does his job, Corey scores without a play at the plate. Where's the mistake by Patterson? Mark made the mistake by not bunting when he was told to. I can't see how anything can be blamed on Corey here.
  6. It was a suicide squeeze. And yes, Prior needs to have blind faith that Patterson knows the play. You can't rely on sneaking a peak as the pitcher is starting his windup. I didn't see Patterson get a delayed jump at third, but the bottom line is that Patterson was at least half-way by the time Prior swung and chopped it foul. Corey did nothing wrong on the squeeze. If Prior lays it down, there's no way Patterson is out at home, even if it's right out in front of the plate. The play in which Patterson was thrown out at home came later in the AB. It was not a squeeze play of any kind. Prior bounced a one-hopper to second and Patterson was out at home (although he was well ahead of the throw).
  7. Yeah, rough start for Gallagher. I wonder how hard it is for a guy so young to keep his focus with such a big lead. On the bright side, it's pretty nice to have your 1 and 2 hitters each with 4 hits. Fuld's BA is above .290.
  8. You must not have been watching the same game that I was watching. In the game that I was watching, Corey was thrown out at the plate despite the fact that Prior hit a ground ball to the right side. How could he have been "just about hit by the swing" and yet still get thrown out on a ground ball to the right side? On the play Dusty was upset about Prior slapped the ball foul, which was before he hit the ball to the right side. I'm pretty sure that's the way it happened. Yeah. The squeeze play was when Prior chopped it foul. The slide at home was on a ground ball hit to the right side.
  9. Mitre is going today for Iowa and had a rough first inning. 3 runs on 2 hits, 2 walks, and a HBP.
  10. Peoria's 5-run inning: Peoria's 8-run inning:
  11. I'm sorry. For some reason, I thought an article that's going to be read by hundreds of thousands of people should at least get the facts right instead of twisting plays to support the Corey has no idea what he's doing argument.
  12. You still can't blame Corey for it. He may have taken off later than Mark was expecting but he was within 30 feet of the plate when Prior fouled that pitch off. He just forgot Patterson is really, really fast. Corey still would've scored easily if Prior put the ball in play 29- As for the Blanco play, yeah, Corey was definitely running on it. Since Henry pulled the ball instead of trying to hit it behind Patterson, it could have been a steal. If that's the case, anyone is going to have trouble picking up the ball when they're already closing in on second base. Just another detail conveniently left out of that article.
  13. All boxes (minus Mesa) are posted. Looks like Layden was improperly charged with a run in his 1-2-3 inning. He doesn't give up a run but his ERA goes up 9 points. :(
  14. Something has to be wrong still. And it wasn't much better for Downs. Two pretty rough starts since missing two weeks.
  15. What the heck does this mean? I assume he was referring to making good contact to the left side twice. Am I missing something with that squeeze play? Why did Sullivan blame Corey for it? Wasn't it Prior who pulled the bat back and swung away while Corey did what he was supposed to do? And who is Baker talking about? Corey or Prior? And I'm still amazed with the Cubs coaching staff. You want to send him down to Iowa to work on everything? Did they not realize that the overcoaching wasn't helping here? Corey needed to focus on his hitting, not work with 3 or 4 different coaches every day like he was doing here. Maybe Corey got on Sullivan's bad side. As he admitted, he loves to let his grudges invade his articles.
  16. That looked like a pretty decent first pitch to attack. He just didn't get under it.
  17. They're hoping for a 7:25 start time.
  18. .297/.366/.505 in 91 ABs And yeah, I don't see Schmidt as being that attractive.
  19. Matt- How close were you to going to college? What was that decision like for you? You and Sean Gallagher are the youngest guys on the team. What is it like spending so much time around guys who are as much as four years older than you, who have come from different places, and who have had different life experiences? What was it like starting in front of Nomar Garciaparra? And what was it like seeing your name mentioned in articles regarding his rehab in the Tribune? What's the key to your success on the mound? Is it your fastball or is it setting up batters for your slider? Thanks!
  20. All boxes posted. I guess this is one of those times for Peoria where rain actually helps to save the bullpen.
  21. As a starter, yeah. But he said he had it up at 92 for a few innings. Who knows where his future is, but if it's in the bullpen, he could conceivably even throw a tad harder.
  22. Ryan- What were those post-season HRs like for you at Boise? Can players get as excited for a short season Northwest League championship as they can for a high school state championship? Or is it almost more special because you guys spend so much more time around each other in the minors? As the season winds down, have you started thinking about your early goals for next season and a possible return to your home state? Also, do you know what you'll be doing this offseason? Thanks and keep it up!
