    Well the officials certainly don't want to be blamed for taking a team out of the first half with foul trouble.

    That was a horrible missed call, especially against the home team. United didn't deserve a point though. Yeah. Chelsea just manhandled them in the first half. Man U's going to have some trouble in the mid week - with Rooney out it didn't seem like anyone was willing or able to get shots on goal. The match would have been a big letdown if not for the last 10 minutes.

    They get to sit and actually plan for their opponents, unlike the team they'd get in the second round. I'm not exactly sure what the goal is in regards to the best team, but I sure hope they don't think a single elimination tournament is about determining the best team. There are very few sports in which you can determine the best team on the field or court. College basketball is certainly not one of them. It's about determining a champion. I think a big wildcard is going to be how expansion impacts seeding. With more teams, are committee members going to rely on just one or two rankings to seed at-large teams or will it push them to use their guts a bit more?

    It would be a nightmare for those on the quarter system. You'd be looking at having all of these games during finals week for some or the week before finals for others.

    The US women are hosting Mexico on a snow-covered field in Utah on ESPN2. Looks a bit slushy, too.

    Where are you hearing this cause that would be flippin fantastic. http://spreadfarthefame.com/ There are only a few Northwestern blogs, and while this isn't the most active, they do have some sources (mostly players, I believe). I believe them. If there's going to be a game at Wrigley in 2010, they need to get it announced ASAP. One of the major goals was to have more than 7 months to market the game and sell season tickets, so time is running out.

    The current rumor for the Northwestern Wrigley game is Iowa and not Illinois this season. It doesn't make much sense to play Iowa considering attendance in Evanston would be much higher for an Iowa game than an Illinois game, but it would make it a week earlier than the Notre Dame/Army game at Yankee Stadium instead of the same weekend.

    Rather amazed that he could get a clean block on that last shot aside from the contact caused by Turner's non-shooting hand.

    If I were that big, I think I'd rather just be called "fatty" than "big baby."

    If only Butler could hit an outside shot.

    Portable lights in Michigan Stadium are particularly easy considering most of the stadium is below ground level.

    Pretty sure both teams were out of timeouts by that point, which made the ending that much better. No NBA ending with 7 timeouts called in the last minute.

    The NCAA needs to structure the tournament in a way where Gus gets all of the games. It was a couple years ago, I think, where Bill Simmons suggested in a column that Gus not actually be at any of the games but be in a studio and whenever a game went down to the wire, they let Gus call the last couple minutes rather than the normal announcers. Might as well. There isn't a great environment at the early round games, anyways. Some empty seats and lots of indifferent fans of other teams.

    with the number of sites being cut in half, is Gus even on one of the teams? This was on the last page: So he'll get Syracuse vs. Butler in the first game on Thursday evening and then Xavier vs. Kansas State. I assume he'll get the winners of those games on Saturday.

Especially if this rendering is any indication. http://www.chicagobreakingbusiness.com/LF-Sign.jpg Didn't know the link was updated. So it's not an electronic board (just backlit). But if they're going to put something like that up, it would look a lot better if it was shorter but took up the width of the entire bleacher section. I don't think the overlap with the Horseshoe ad helps.

    The article implies (but doesn't directly state) that it would be a large LED advertising board. I think that would be significantly worse aesthetically than a normal ad board.
