  1. 12:30, eh? Hopefully I can watch an inning or two of Daisuke.

  3. Sounded like Dope stung that one pretty hard, but right at the left fielder.
  4. Pie misplayed that one, it sounded like, but Reed got a little selfish.
  5. I seriously could not keep the smile off my face once I got off the Redline. Its baseball season folks!! I know. It's such a cool feeling. Last year I rode or drove by Wrigley about 10-15 times during the winter, but none at all this year. I don't think I had been down there since the trade deadline. I also picked up a new Z jersey t-shirt and saw a guy pull out a 25-year-old gigantic video cassette recorder on the el, which made the trip even better.
  6. Picked up my tickets from will call today. The tickets look pretty slick. They have Wrigley printed on the background instead of just a Cubs logo. Aside from it being windy as heck, I got a chance to look at the bleachers. It'll be a little weird for the bleachers to extend out a good 15 feet over the sidewalk, but it's not going to look bad. Hopefully they don't leave it red, though. It was hard to tell about the bleachers from the inside (by looking from the el platform). I guess I'll have to wait until there are actually people in those seats. Plus, looking at the marquee for the first time in a new year is always awesome.
  7. Glad to see Choi start to come around, at least. He was really struggling. Oh, and Seung Yeop Lee is really trying to hit 10 HRs this WBC.
  8. Z gets the win as Venezuela beats Puerto Rico 6-0 to hand the home team their first loss of the WBC. Should be a real good day of baseball tomorrow (bad for studying). Puerto Rico plays Cuba and Venezuela plays the Dominican Republic. The winners of each game advance while the losers are done.
  9. Hopefully the simulated game would be no later than Thursday:
  10. A monster grand slam by Victor Martinez and Venezuela goes up 6-0. Looks like we'll have four 1-1 teams going into tomorrow. Z looked awesome in that black shirt.
  11. I'm sure it's just Tex's turn. Who's DHing? I can't seem to find the gameday link. It's probably part precautionary and part to get someone else playing time.
  12. Did he hurt it? He hurt it last game on a sliding catch in foul territory. He stayed in the game, though, and also had an AB later on.
  13. I hope Lee's wrist is okay.
  14. Not really, I don't think. None of his numbers have been that impressive at any level. With the pitch counts, I'm guessing that the rule regarding wins is the same as a spring training game. They probably don't have to get to a certain number of IP to qualify.
  15. nice tag by cabrera. It was. Baez manages to pitch a 1-2-3 inning despite being hit hard.
  16. Oh, didn't know Federico Baez is in. Nearly gave up a HR to Cabrera, but it just died in deep center.

    Atlee

Injuries will dictate how soon he'll make the Iowa roster, but if it's anything like last year, it might not be all that long. But when I think Atlee, I only think one thing: tree trunk legs.
  18. Unrelated, but this is a great picture: http://msn.foxsports.com/id/5397354_7_2.jpg
  19. Z is pumped after that HR. Second out of the dugout.
  20. Yeah, Z! He should be done after throwing 72 pitches. Nice outing. Really settled down. I also don't recall him ever throwing a fastball at 97 mph or above. Only a few at 96. His 4-seamers stayed around 94-95. His line: 4 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, 4 ground balls, 2 fly balls, 44 strikes, 28 balls
  21. Didn't look like he jammed him as well as he did. 66 pitches.
  22. Finally a 2-pitch AB. Finish strong, Z.
  23. Another K looking. 59 pitches. He's got one more inning at most. Blanco sighting.
  24. "Not even close" Truer words have never been spoken.
