  1. That was a nice play by Chipper. That was a lot closer than I thought it would be.
  2. You think so? I think it's been pretty sloppy and uninspiring, like a AAA all star game or something. Close and interesting, yes, but good? It may not be the tightest game, but Panama is a pretty significant underdog and it's been nothing but back and forth in the late innings. They're finding new ways to hurt themselves.
  3. Shoulda started DLee at 1st. I'm sure Lee's groin and leg muscles could use a break after the terrible throws he had to dig out yesterday. He got a workout.
  4. Yup. And quite painful ones, too. I love the WBC. I don't really care about seeing the US team since I can see those players all the time (except the Cubs players, of course. I love watching them play), but to see teams like Japan, Korea, Cuba, etc., that's fun.
  5. Man. This is a good game.
  6. And lee goes down swinging on a fastball up and over the outside corner. Wow. A first pitch HBP to tie it up. #6 of the game.
  7. Panama is really fighting to stay alive. 1-run ballgame.
  8. Lee walks on a 3-1 pitch. Bases loaded with one out for Chipper Jones.
  9. Nice bunt, bad defense.
  10. Very nice DP turned by the Cuban second baseman.
  11. That's a loooong sac fly off a hanging slider to tie it up.
  12. Looks like it went well:
  13. Buck Martinez denied that request.
  14. Z wasn't overthrowing like he can. His fastballs were about what you want (93-97) and for the most part, his 2-seamer had pretty decent movement. There weren't that many 98+ fastballs. The problem is that because of the strike zone, he couldn't throw his 2-seamer for strikes and had to rely on the the heat and slider. His slider just wasn't that consistent and Alou and Beltre took each took advantage of hangers. But you wouldn't expect his breaking stuff to be there at this point in the spring. The results sucked, but I think he pitched just fine. I look forward to seeing what he does when he starts instead of coming out of the 'pen.
  15. i posted your box score in the DR/VZLA thread Thanks! Only 10k in attendance? Wow. As Damon pops out. It was played in a small park and SROs were sold out. I'd imagine it was by far the most popular WBC game in the first round. There we go, Lee!
  16. You'd certainly want him to throw more than 23 pitches.
  17. That has really got to hurt. Tempers starting to flare a bit. Put Z back in there.
  18. Wow. What are the odds of that happening?
