  1. According to Andy Mazur, the Cubs are stretching out Marshall by having him pitch in simulated games, possibly to prepare him for a spot in April. I'm not sure I like that with him coming off that finger injury, but I'm also a little surprised that they're thinking that highly of him for a spot in the rotation right out of camp.
  2. Lee isn't playing today. According to Santo, he'll take another couple of days off. Blanco is starting today. No lineups? No Dusty Baker show today b/c they arrived late.
  3. Yeah, it's a really cool photo. Perfectly framed and timed.

  5. I really do not like those green uniforms.
  6. It's been a while since I've had to use the mute button. But this is spring training and with and ESPN Sunday night game right away, the practice will be useful. Thank goodness the game is on WGN Radio.
  7. Agreed. He pitched to just one batter in the game against the US and just one other inning the entire WBC. There was something wrong with his arm and his time in the WBC had nothing to do with it.
  8. Cubs.com has a list of the remaining dugout and bleacher box seats: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/chc/ticketing/dbb.jsp
  9. Stupid foul by Bradley turned into a pretty smart one. Or not.
  10. On the drive? Absolutely. But Duke's the only one who get calls. Well, North Carolina didn't need any calls this time. The other big non-call was on the bad three when the UNC defender practically took the legs out from under the guy who was boxing him out as he went up for the rebound. Make your FTs.
  11. That was a pretty big non-call. Never saw a replay, but it looked like North Carolina got away with one.
  12. Bad shot by Murray State and North Carolina got away with a foul on the rebound. Kansas down just 3.
  13. Bradley going into major turnover mode. 5 point game. Four straight turnovers, I believe, and three straight off the dribble.
  14. Good article. It illustrates it pretty clearly. And yeah, that top 10 contact hitters list isn't very impressive.
  15. Just call up the Cubs at 773-404-CUBS. There's an option for pocket schedules and all you have to do is leave your name and address and they'll mail you out a few.
  16. How could Clemens say no to this face? http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/2006/03/08/4AeLWdTr.jpg
  17. For any Bears fans out there with NFL Network: .
  18. The Dominican Republic, Cuba, Korea, and the US/Japan is a pretty good semi-finals.
  19. And that's where the bad case of pharyngitis comes in. Prior wasn't in ideal shape and his arm wasn't really ready when he reported to spring training.
  20. I already read that. Basically, Prior is a wuss. And they are treating him like a little girl. He's sore so there's gonna baby, and pamper him. Prior said he felt "pain" around his rotator cuff, the Cubs sent him to a specialist and decided to have an MRI done, he was diagnosed with a moderate strain in the shoulder, and they're shutting him down for 7-10 days. This isn't normal soreness. If it was, they wouldn't be shutting him down for a week or more. How are they babying him? And why is he a wuss for reporting pain in his throwing shoulder?
  21. Good. Well, that could be. I'm not sure how well that fits in this instance, though. From what I've read and judging by the diagnosis, what he and the Cubs did with this seem pretty reasonable. If it's a strain, you don't want him to try to pitch through it, so it's probably not that he was just being overly cautious.
  22. I haven't exactly followed Halladay's career much, but when I looked up his stats, the main thing that jumped out at me was that he threw 239.1 IP in 2002 and 266 IP in 2003. That's a lot of innings.
  23. if they expect to find damage it makes sense to release the news on the weekend of the first round of the NCAA's. it's helps the story get less exposure than if they release it during the week. That quote from Baker is about the "structured program" that they'd work out with Dr. Yocum, not about the MRI results.
  24. April 11-13, 26, May 2, and May 18 are the value dates.
