  2. Not sure exactly what the rules are, but at least for split-squad games, the big league club can bring up just about anyone to fill out the roster for that day. Usually players are sent to minor league camp sooner rather than later so they can get more at bats or innings pitched than they would in big league camp.
  3. The Bulls are getting smacked around in Washington so far.
  4. I was going to buy a t-shirt just like this one last year but of the Diamond Jaxx, but it disappeared from their website when I looked for it later. You could call up the teams and ask about specific t-shirts or maybe even see if they have a catalogue to mail out.
  5. Weird. IowaCubs.com must've just merged with MiLB.com. They used to have an online store, but that appears to be gone now.
  6. Slow curve and Z strikes out the side! And quite efficiently, too.
  7. K #2 Sounded like a curve or slider that caught him looking.
  8. MLB.com has really screwed up the broadcast schedules this spring. According to the Rangers' site, there's no TV broadcast for the game, so there isn't going to be an MLB.tv broadcast. K #1
  9. Still raining lightly, but the game should start basically on time. 48 degrees at gametime.
  10. Pierre CF Hairston 2B Ramirez 3B Dopirak 1B Grissom LF Barrett C Pie RF Cedeno SS Z! P Sounds like no DH today. Lee isn't playing, obviously, but he took some swings in the batting cage and felt fine.
  11. excuse my ignorance, but what exatcly is valley fever. Must be rare if I have never heard of it. I don't know much about it other than it's an infection caused by fungus spores. Steve Stone had it a few years ago. Novoa has already lost about 15 pounds. On the plus side, Dusty said that Wood and Miller continue to progress really quickly.
  12. They originally thought that Novoa had pneumonia and was semi-quarantied for the past week or two. They just said on WGN Radio, though, that he was diagnosed with valley fever. He hasn't been able to throw more than five pitches without having trouble breathing. There's no way he's going to be able to start the season on time.
  13. It has rained a bunch in Mesa since last night. The tarp is off, but there's a threat of rain later on.
  14. I find it funny and sad (mostly sad) that the Tribune tried to make it seem like tempers were getting out of hand yesterday b/c it was a Cubs/Sox game. They had a huge picture of Thome hitting the deck in the paper today. I'm sure other media sources were doing the same thing, too. Of course, they probably didn't mention that Hairston got drilled in the shoulder while Thome fell down on a pitch that was closer to the strike zone than it was to him. That ball was what, four inches inside?
  15. And the HBP costs Korea a run. Kim has fallen apart.
  16. Wow! Fukudome goes yard! And Kim drills the next batter on purpose, but in the leg.
  17. Choi got a pitch up and out over the plate but it's not easy to hit one out to dead center.
  18. Man. What a running, leaping catch by Tamura in foul ground in left.
  19. Some hard hit balls, but still no score after 3.5.
  20. The MRI was negative. They'll shut him down for about five days and see how he feels.
  21. Nice catch by the Korean right fielder to end the inning, especially in that ballpark.
  22. Nothing really new today:
