  1. Jody Gerut? Not that they have a lineup full of future HOFers, but JODY GERUT? Geez.
  2. For whatever his reason(s), it seems like he doesn't want to play for the Cubs anymore, so let him go.
  3. Well, I'm ready to kick back for a stress free post-season.
  4. And our Lee isn't so bad either... GO D!!!!!!!!!!
  5. What a weird season. Who would have thought that Wells would be the only ten-game winner at this point. No one could have or would have ever guessed that!
  6. Everyone's missing the point here -- IT DOESN'T MATTER! ](*,) Put Miles back there... who cares?
  7. In general, and in ways that could often be related to his performance as a professional baseball player, he's made some poor decisions. I remember Len and Bob saying (sometime in the last couple of years) how, on an off day during the season, Z was seen living it up at the Six Flags water park in Gurnee, Ill. Sure, you can get hurt doing just about anything, that's true, but if I'm a guy who makes a nice (very nice) living as a pro athlete, I'm not doing that during the season... we're talking mega water park here. Is it wrong? If it's not spelled out in his contract, no. Would a large percentage of active MLB players do the same thing? I have no idea. But if I was fortunate enough to be making my living that way, while I would not encase myself in bubble wrap, I'm not going to be tempting fates in that way, either. Just never sure about some of the decisions this guy is making.
  8. OK, what's wrong with me? I actually thought being at home, playing the Naitonals and having Z there meant we'd win..... you think I'd learn.
  9. hit a HR Honorable. What if I told you that Jim Hendry was waiting at home plate with a 2 year contract extension for Miles when he finished his trot? That changes things.
  10. That's easy, HR. My desire for the Cubs to win trumps my desire for Miles to keep being totally useless.
  11. The last two days has proved me wrong... the offense actually COULD get worse.
  12. I know this thread is regarding the greatness that is Jeff Baker, and not saying I disagree, but how sad is the original post here that Baker and Lee have been the bright spots lately? Sums up the season well.
  13. They're not out of it until the math tells us so, but being realistic? It's over.
  14. ONE STRIKE AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Maybe the Cardinals are just better than us? Don't think they're in first that far ahead on some fluke, that's for sure.
  16. WTF? I just took the dog out. I thought this was going to 10? Are you kidding me?
  17. You summed it up well. I think that's what I was trying to say.
  18. I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what the average age is of posters that hated it. The under 80 crowd hated it. I guess I need to check my birth certificate again. It says I'm only 36. I'm a big Sandberg fan, always will be. I blow off the hatred around here. He was a great player in a time in my life when I was much younger and had a lot more time to focus on the team and the specifics. Now I'm lucky to tune into a game. I thought his HOF speech was GREAT and I'm far less than 80. The marriage angle is dumb. I don't know him personally, but I'm a big fan of what he did for the Cubs back in the day.
  19. Samardzija will not be hard to get rid of. Plenty of top brass, I'm sure, that will buy into the whole "Notre Dame mystique."
  20. The thing is, I really like Sean Marshall.
  21. They just don't have the depth to recover from big hits to the starting rotation.
  22. That was a terrible pitch, Riot. PATIENCE!
