  1. Just out of curiousity, I wonder who Schuerholz and the Braves offered or would have offered for Williamson.
  2. Excellent.....right on pace to lose 100. Go Cubs!!! Half empty or half full ?? Currently, my perspective of the Cubs is half empty. However, it would be half full if some of the young guys could see more consistent playing time.

  4. A few questions about Samardzija....... How many starts did Samardzija have at Boise? Overall, how did he look? Will the promotion to Peoria be troubling? Is this a big jump for him with only a minimal amount of starts at Boise? Are those 5 HBP very troubling or just attributed to something such as nerves? How many starts will he be able to get in before he has to report back to Notre Dame?
  5. The dude just hit three HRs in two days (in games in which the Cubs lost) and somehow he is a problem. 4 in 2 days(2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday) He also had one on Thursday. So 5 in 3 days.
  6. And Colvin getting some love too: Good to hear about Veal. I don't follow the minors very closely. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the Florida State League a hitters league(atleast this year)?
  7. It would be nice if the Cubs would take a page from Ozzie's book and actually make players accountable when they fail in the fundamentals of the game.
  8. I'm putting my money on Rusch back to the rotation......and Wuertz called up to replace in middle relief. Isn't Rusch DLed from Prior's activation? Rusch pitched last night in relief for Prior and they sent Theriot down to make room for Prior.
  9. Wasn't it Jon Rauch that was essentially exiled to Montreal/DC? If I recall correctly, he was with the Sox and did something that angered Kenny Williams.
  10. Ir wouldn't be a Cub game without a Novoa appearance.

  12. It was only a single because Escobar injured himself. I must be taking crazy pills because I swear I didn't say that. *checks* no, it was otis89, not me. No idea how my name got attached to that. It's like the Steven A.Smith/Dusty Baker appearance controversy.
  13. Well, he already said once this season that he has/had an exhausted arm. The Dusty method of dismissing pitch counts is not really helping Zambrano and can be a gamble. I really don't think this is a gamble the Cubs should take with him. He threw too many pitches yesterday and for some reason I'm guessing he will throw too many pitches in his next outing. But, what the heck Z can handle it.
  14. By chance, do you have the Sheehan article that your sig quote comes from?
  15. He's not, but you also don't want to see it become a situation where that concept of forging on even through pain/exhaustion becomes a detriment to him. hu?? Zambrano is not a crybaby and will pitch in pain or arm exhaustion. That is something that a coaching staff needs to be very aware of. Otherwise if they leave it up to him he'd pitch complete games everyday and blow his arm in the process. Point being that being cautious can be a problem, but sometimes not be cautious can also become a problem.
  16. ARod committed his 18th error(throwing error) and missed a foul ball in the lights in a Yankee loss tonight. On brighter note for him, he became the youngest player to hit 450 home runs.

  18. Does anyone have any information on Pomeranz?
  19. Hollandsworth should be DFA'd solely for wearing that shirt.
  20. I thought he picked up Murton when the Expos wanted a prospect that wasn't Murton. Hendry threw in Brendan Harris and said he'd take Murton. At least that's how I remember it going. I think the whole minor leaguer element is based on the Red Sox need for a 1b since Trot Nixon was injured at the time and Ortiz was viewed as a defensive liability. They could get Mientkiewicz and DH Ortiz.
  21. When the Cubs and Prior part ways and he has a resurgence with his new team.
  22. Kirk Manwaring????
  23. ROTHSCHILD said something LOL True....good call.
  24. Brenly says that Prior needs to scrap the breaking ball and thenPrior throws three excellent ones.
  25. I would. Hendry has shown to be far better at getting trade value than he has at outright signing free agents. 90% of Hendry's major successes as a GM have been in trades. But what about trading veterans for prospects? The only success so far is Murton, but he wasn't exactly going hard after Murton, and he didn't really trade veterans for prospects. He mostly traded prospects for a veteran and had a prospect thrown in. From what I can tell, Hendry can do a decent job of trading prospects for established young players. But he couldn't pull off a Marlins deal. You sure? I could've sworn that I heard that Hendry insisted on Murton. Murton was sort of an add on when Epstein saw that he could get Mientkiewicz in the deal also.
