  1. They don't really have any room to talk since they've NEVER won the WS. Can anyone actually prove the Cubs have ever won a world series? I mean...there is probably nobody alive that remembers it, and I know they didn't have video back then. :? A new born infant at the time(1908) would now be 98 years old. So someone living who is 105 years old now(7 years old at the time) might faintly remember. The key is finding someone 105 or older.
  2. Ewwww.......that doesn't help trade value. If Novoa gave that up, he would remain in the game.
  3. St. Louis' pitching seems to go in some pretty awful spurts. The Padres didn't hold the Braves down in the first three games of the stretch either. Yeah that's true, but I also remember the same Cardinals staff giving up something like 20 and 14 runs in back-to-back games against the Sox a few weeks ago. Currently 13-1........Braves winning in the bottom of the sixth.....Marquis gave up 12 runs in his outing, but I'm not sure how many were earned. All of them. LaRussa must really have confidence in his bullpen.

  5. It's a cover up! Even FSN Houston recognizes that the Astros aren't the real "Killers B's".
  6. Hopefully a playoff contention team saw that HR from Nevin. And hopefully that GM said. "We can sure use a guy like Nevin on our bench for the playoff run!"
  7. Not very deep plus the wind helped since it is blowing in. Sort of blowing in....NE wind.
  8. Marmol singles. It's official. Cubs pitchers hit better than Cub hitters.
  9. Well we have demanded accountability and Walker sitting after his last game IS accountability. Too bad Dusty will ONLY hold Walker accountable and no one else. Dusty's argument for starting Neifi Neifi against Oswalt .409/.409/.455 in 22 at bats Walker against Oswalt .214/.233/.310 in 42 at bats
  10. The 2003 Florida Marlins were #23 out of 30 in defensive efficiency. The 1996 Yankees were #22 in defensive efficiency. Toronto was #18 out of 28 in 1993. Most teams that win the world series do have good defense, but to say that no team has won without a solid defense is incorrect. As for up-the-middle defense, the 2000 Yankees had Jose Vizcaino at 2nd. His fielding rate was 100, exactly the same as Todd Walker's rate this year. Derek Jeter was one of the worst defensive shortstops in baseball that year. Bernie Williams was below average in CF. That 1993 WS had two horrid defenses if I recall. I can't remember if it affected that series in any manner.
  11. True.....but I was just hoping. .409/.409/.455 in 22 at bats vs. Oswalt So based on that he was even more guaranteed to start.
  12. Dusty doesn't like 2b from LSU. Walker, Theriot and Fontenot down at Iowa are all from LSU.
  13. Actually, I think the next stat to look at is SLG. I second that. I agree and think that Jason Giambi is the poster child(i.e high obp, high slg, below average batting avg). Giambi' 2006 stats AVG .264 | HR 28 | RBI 76 | OBP .419 | SLG .610 His batting average is inconsequential with his obp and slg.
  14. So does Gail Fischer. Did Gail Fischer and Corey have a fling or something that I missed? It was rumored. I'm not sure if there was any actual truth to it.
  15. In this situation, the Cubs could probably get Freel just for Howry. Then you could start either Izturis or Cedeno at SS. I think the Cubs should be cautious with pitchers and arm problems. Mulder could very easily backfire.
  16. Zambrano sure would bring a lot of value back in trade.
  17. Good to see that Todd Ritchie trade is working out for both teams.
  18. Weaver just gave up a grand slam and now a triple to McCann and Francoeur. Encarnacion dogging it a bit allowing Francoeur to get the triple. Braves up 4-0 against the Cards in the bottom of the 3rd. Francoeur tags up....5-0 Braves.
  19. Even if it was a possibility, Eyre has a no trade clause and absolutely hated playing for the White Sox in the past. So I don't think he would okay a trade there.
  20. Really....was that in the same interview? Because of course the Score670 is omitting that portion.
  21. Something along the lines of......... Well, I know the reason both Jacque and I signed here was because of Bake. He runs a loose clubhouse with no rules. I find it funny that Eyre likes to include others in what he says. Including Jacque here and talking about Dempster's contract status(i.e. NTC) the other day. Which it appears he was wrong about. Atleast according to Cot's.
  22. Richie Hebner Brian Dayett Matt Miske and just because I hated him so much and want to reminisce a bit........Mitch Webster Active or not....I miss them.
  23. The Red Sox are my favorite AL team, and I am spending more time supporting Red Sox Nation. So you've been rooting for the White Sox to beat the Yankees this weekend? I have to. The Red Sox will pull thru and win the division. Wow, the White Sox basher pulling FOR the White Sox. Anarchy will now ensue. I misread it. I thought he was asking if I would be rooting for the Yankees, which I was. Whew......now the planets have realigned back to their expected postions.
