  1. It's sort of funny that when he was drafted by the Giants, many teams were questioning his mechanics. He was viewed as an arm injury witing to happen. Now that he has a year an a half (or so) of MLB experience; he is viewed as "the Freak". FWIW I didn't read the SI article, but I heard that it actually goes as far as to praise his mechanics.
  2. It was actually the half inning before he got shelled and removed. So it's possible, it had to have been noticeable to Ted because the game stopped, the Reds catcher was up looking over there as was the ump. I doubt he'd blame it on that, but it's hard to believe that the kid wasn't on his mind out there. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080518&content_id=2723868&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  3. meh....35? Setting the bar low there.
  4. Grace and Daron Sutton are pretty funny together. I think Sutton sometimes forgets that he's on TV.
  5. Damn you Billy Beane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Murton crashes into the wall to make a great catch in LF. Gallagher out of the seventh using only 9 pitches (7 Ks through 7 innings).
  7. Gallagher may have to go out and hit a batter next inning.
  8. Showing some Murton love.
  9. Why do you say this? Like I said, I don't buy it. Bonifacio is just not good. He doesn't even really have a position. Previous posts pretty much said what I would have. But, anyways here is what D'backs fans think about him. It's from Diamondbacks Bullpen which has some knowlegeable posters. http://forum.diamondbacksbullpen.org/viewtopic.php?t=3829&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
  10. Gallagher through 2 innings looks pretty sharp. Two strikeouts and no hits.
  11. Oakland fans are excited about Gallagher. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=304&f=2062&t=2669982&p=3
  12. I don't buy it. If Huntington is really setting his sights on Emilio Bonifacio, then he may be worse than Littlefield. If that's even possible.
  13. Chumley's, Joe's on 86th St., Ale Emporium, Fox and Hound or Champps should all have the game tomorrow in the Indy area. I'd prefer not to make that drive although I do like Chumley's...I know Joe's and Bubbaz over in Camby will be playing it. They always have the Cubs games on. Its not like Indy has another baseball team to root for. I was talking about a house party, and while I will be going to one later that night looks like I'll be all my lonesome unless I wanna watch it with non Cubs fans. Not a big deal. No Pirates fans with their AAA team there? I know that their minor league system isn't very good, but I just assumed the Pirates might have atleast a little bit of a following in Indy.
  14. Where's the Kerry Wood is a "sham closer" NSBB member at?
  15. Apparently, Chuck Garfien feels so too.
  16. It kind of reminds me of SNL's Ace & Gary.
  17. He's Thom's dad, of course. The guy the Cubs skipped over for Len, correct? Thom Brennaman? No, he was a Cubs broadcaster(TV & radio) during the early to mid 90's. I think he left because he was working FOX network broadcast too and the Cubs didn't want him to do that. Was it Thom Brennaman or Josh Lewin that Harry allegedly ran off hoping Chip would be hired? Josh Lewin.....the thing is that the Cubs offered the job to Chip and he turned it down and for some reason Harry still held it out on Lewin. In Steve Stone's book, Where's Harry? there is a pretty detailed account of the happenings.
  18. I keep reading about going to the local bar for games I can't see at home. Am I missing something? Why does a bar get games that I don't? No. There will be no local bars showing it either. People outside the Chicago area are screwed when it comes to Saturday baseball and the Cubs. Really? I've watched FOX games that would otherwise be blacked out at bars before. Yeah, I can't believe that's true. My bars carry out of market games. Most every bar carries out of market games. The question is specifically about out of market games on Saturday afternoons. I know I've been to bars on Saturday afternoon trying to catch a Cubs game instead of the typical Mets, Yankees or Phillies game, but it's unavailable. That includes local dive bars, as well as espnzone and Champs types places with tons of feeds. The clincher vs Houston in 2003 annoyed the hell out of me. Pittsburgh?
  19. AJ could have made it over Varitek, but the players weren't going to allow that to happen. I wonder what their reaction is to that. Something along the lines of......
