Umpires are one of the best things about baseball. I think more cameras in ballparks for instant replay is doing something good for the wrong reason. Indeed, baseball needs more cameras, but it's not because we need more accuracy in the calls of the game, but because we need more accuracy in the account of the game. The game should be recorded, and measured, in the most accurate and complete ways possible. That's not to say video analysis shouldn't be used to evaluate umpires' performance, but I would much prefer if video was not used to influence an umpire's decision on the field. I think there is a performance incentive in not having the video to fall back on. So yeah, I voted 'no'.

Pretty much all of my family originates from the Cleveland area plus I fell in love with the mid-90's teams and have been a fan ever since. My favorite player on that team is either V-Mart or Fausto Carmona, though I must admit, the only reason I originally liked the latter was because his first name was Fausto. But Pronk, Sizemore, Garko, Sabathia, Lofton are all players I like on that team.

Hate them all, both of my other teams are in the AL: the Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals, but they're not even close to the Cubs. -
I wonder if anyone (BP, Hardball Times) has looked into any sort of decline in average pitch speeds over the last few years. Slower pitches would complement the PED argument well, I would think.

I probably wouldn't have worded it as strongly, but I essentially agree. P.S. Why on earth is TBS hosting a playoff series? Good one, MLB. Why don't any major local networks (CBS, ABC, NBC) except Fox show MLB games? The same reason TBS is hosting a playoff series. $$$ I don't understand that. Why would limiting their audience make them more money? For commercials, isn't the mantra "the more, the merrier"? Because TBS pays the MLB for the rights to broadcast. They outbid someone to get that series. Whatever hit the MLB takes in terms of lost advertising they gain via the broadcast agreement.
