  1. I'll be looking to build on a 2-1 record.
  2. Cleveland may not 'rock', but they are certainly good at baseball.
  3. I bet it's not a secret forum, but rather some bouncing around from like, minor league boxes 9/16/07 to Guzman Injury Update to Bruce Weber is the worst recruiter in history or something like that. Always there, but never there.
  4. pie, meet face.
  5. I do hope Dusty Baker and Adam Dunn do not get along.
  6. So, is that a 'No' on the premium forum?
  7. Steve Wilson has done a good job with the amateurs so far on the Pac Rim and the Cub were interested in Kuroda last offseason too so iI think he has been well scouted. His scouting report says he throws a low-to-mid 90s FB, slider, forkball and shuuto. He has good command (0.99 BB/9 in 2006) and he had a 6.82 K/9 in 2006 which seems kind of low given his stuff. Also only gave up 12 HRs while pitching in a hitter's park. Sounds interesting as long as he isn't too expensive. What is a "shuuto"?
  8. On one hand, as OMC pointed out, baseball is a game where every player who takes the field gets to bat. I'm definitely a purist/traditionalist in this regard. But on the other hand, I find DH baseball more exciting at times, as it usually prevents the manager from doing something stupid to abruptly end what was a wonderful scoring opportunity. But then again, it could get really interesting and the national league could do away with starting pitching, at least, in the form that we know it. I'd like to see things evolve under the current rule structure. I'm not particularly happy with the level of play in the NL right now, but baseball is a changing game, and anyway, the AL is some good stuff these days.
  9. What innocence? Everyone in the media already declared him guilty without trial. He could not appear on this list, and they'll just say it's proof that there are more names out there. Nobody will be satisfied that steroid testing is working until their own personal target is caught. Very true. And, it's just more to the point that it's silly to call a player out for doing something which was obviously so widespread and unenforced. I don't think it's necessarily all that important for someone to acknowledge that Sammy Sosa probably took steroids/PED's, but I do, and I'll tell you what, It doesn't minimize his on-field accomplishments in any way. I couldn't care less. It is what it is. It'd be like hating on some deadball-era pitcher for accumulating all those wins in a single-season. But its not the pitcher that chose to pitch in the deadball-era. If these players too steroids, it is because they knowingly took an illegal drug in order to boost their performance above all previous players in history that did not take steroids. By that same logic, these players didn't 'choose' to hit in the steroid era. And they weren't trying to boost their performance 'above all previous players in history who did not take steroids', they tried to boost their performance above the field of competition in front of them who were also taking steroids. And you really think dead-ball era pitchers were rule-abiding citizens? Those guys had more tricks up their sleeve than David Blaine wandering around Times Square.

  11. The Indians and the Rockies are really exciting teams, and Boston is pretty darn good too. I don't know how one could consider themselves a 'baseball fan' and not be into this post-season.
  12. Seriously, last night's ALCS games was one of the best games I have ever seen. So... no.
  13. I guess I'm just not sure that adding the DH to the National League is a good thing. So, why would it be a good thing?
  14. ... with the American League in terms of quality of field under the current rule structure? Specifically, leaving the DH rule intact in the American League while simultaneously not having the DH rule in the National League. Is this really a matter of philosophy and economics, and the need for the National League to adapt its mindset to the ever-evolving game of baseball? Is the National League experiencing an over-dose of traditionalism and anecdote, i.e. Joe Morgan? I wish to understand this situation better. Discuss.
  15. Not much to discuss until the report comes out, but I certainly hope the commission doesn't pull its punches.
  16. I put moderate because it doesn't effect my overall productivity, as far as total output, but it definitely distracts in a big way. A good distraction though.
  17. Eric Byrnes is an idiot. Even without looking at the quote he is. I have little worry about what a pro athlete says about the reason for their success. Many idiot players go on to be idiot managers that don't know what the hell they're doing. Others go on to be idiot commentators that don't know what the hell they're talking about. The fact that they "played the game" means nothing. More to the point, anybody who uses the term 'computer geeks' in the year 2007 is a complete moron. It might have been applicable say, ten years ago, but when used now, is just evidence that one is completely out of touch with the incredible ways in which we are able to process information. The funniest thing is, we KNOW why the Diamondbacks have the record they do despite the RS/RA metric, and we figured it out by using our computers. So if it's cool for Eric Byrnes to call statheads "computer geeks", it should be cool for everyone to call him a dumb jock. I mean, all athletes are dumb, right? Sounds fair to me. I wasn't accusing him of being a moron because he plays baseball, I was accusing him of being a moron because he is a moron, or more accurately, ignorant.

  19. Uh yeah, Cleveland wasn't the underdog guy.
  20. Watching someone such as Barry Rozner trifle in irrelevancy is something I tend to derive pleasure from. Thanks Barry, you made my day.
  21. Yeah, 2003 and it's not even close.
  22. http://www.gifflix.com/data/media/81/oswald1.jpg Oh wait...it's Vance. Well there's something that I never noticed in that picture: the dude holding onto Oswald's pants.
