  1. I don't live in the city. A well-organized city such as Chicago not only diffuses automobile traffic, but facilitates all kinds of other modes of transportation such as foot, bicycle, train, and bus. These other options, sans-Metra line, which only serves the people along that particular line and helps no one in say, the Southwest Suburbs, are simply not an option in Arlington Heights or Schaumburg. Look, I'm not going to tell anyone how raise their kids/teach them baseball, but it seems to me that the best way to teach a child baseball is not by sitting in the concourse eating nachos while watching the game on a television. I would say with the exception of the bleachers, Wrigley is kid friendly. Wanna know how I came to this conclusion? THERE ARE LOTS OF KIDS THERE. Seems logical enough to me.
  2. This whole argument about accessibility is ridiculous. Cities diffuse traffic better than suburbs. In fact, the modern-era suburbs are all designed to FUNNEL traffic into narrow corridors. You think getting to the ballpark in Schaumburg will be easier than in Wrigleyville? That's just silly. Try driving to Woodfield Mall on a Saturday in say, November. Now imagine all those people leaving and arriving AT THE SAME TIME. It would be horrible.
  3. Wierd that you mention this because when I was a kid, all we had to keep us entertained when we went to ballpark were the Chicago Cubs. Man, that really sucked!
  4. I don't necessarily think it's the troughs or the 'pissiness' of the bathrooms, it's that there's only 2 and the line wraps around the stadium. Getting out once you're in is a breeze though.
  5. Is this game going to be inside or outside? I know a few people have mentioned that the roof was broken, though it doesn't really make sense to me that if broken, they would have left it open all winter. I'm guessing the bad boy is going to be closed tomorrow, broken or not. I predict a decent, but not great, outing by Hill, and hopefully some better matchup choices by Sweet Lou.
  6. Doctoring the ball is a 10-gamer now, isn't it?
  7. I'm perfectly fine with him at lead off. And I probably won't be changing my mind on that anytime soon. I'm torn on this one. Normally, I would say his skill set is more appropriate for hitting behind Aramis. However, his historical dropoff in production when he's not hitting leadoff makes me hesitant to gamble with his slot in the lineup. Any gain we might make by putting someone with higher OBP would be more than overriden by the drop in production from Soriano. That is, if you assume his historical splits between different positions in the lineup holds true. I think having a leadoff hitter that can hit 40 hr is pretty awesome. Just my $.02
  8. If ya ain't cheatin', ya ain't tryin'
  9. Good god, I really f&@*#*^ hate Paul Sullivan.
  10. It strikes me that today's game is a wash, that there's not really much we can extrapolate from it. Lou made some bad calls pitching-wise, but I don't think we can realistically expect that to continue, nor should we expect our offense to be so flaccid. Hopefully that roof in Milwaukee is working properly and the Cubs can play some warm-weather baseball. Looking forward to Hill's start. Dude IS a beast.
  11. Lets Go Indians, Lets Go! My whole family is from the Cleveland area so the Indians have been grandfathered in to the sports teams that I enjoy. And yes, Grady Sizemore is super awesome.
  12. and Soriano, Lee and Ramirez wont go homerless for long Yeah, Soriano just isn't in the zone right now, and the cold is at least partly to blame for Ramirez and Lee's lack of power at the moment. I imagine this team will be playing a lot better baseball come the next off-day.
  13. I love the total freak outs in this thread. THIS IS THE THIRD GAME. Lou isn't going to make awesome pitching decisions just yet because THIS IS THE THIRD GAME. He has to see his pitchers a few times in real scenarios before he is able to make informed decisions. THIS IS THE THIRD GAME! That being said, if we drop two games to the Brewers, season's over.
  14. i'm sure there is marketing involved. Much like names/no names/names Are they putting names on the back of home jerseys again?
  15. Do you want the blue jerseys, text Y/N to 55-222 Do I have a chance to win something from this, I got a reply that said 'Good Luck'.
  16. It's only game 3. Fonz will get it done.... Oh, I'm not trying to naysay, he WILL get it done. I just hope he doesn't wait until the second half like Jacque.
  17. Fonz ain't doin too hot here at the beginning of the season.
  18. Sweetness. I love double-plays as long as the Cubs are the ones turning them.
  19. Ahh, those were the day.
  20. Big Murt needs some AB's against the crappiness that is Kyle Lohse so he can break out of his 1-game slump. I'd like to see Cedeno do a little more than get caught stealing as well.
  21. Good thing I didn't pay for MLB.TV, I would get to see exactly zero games if this map determines which games are blacked out or not. Either way, WGN 720 is free and far more enjoyable than plastering myself to my computer screen to watch choppy, pixelated videos of something that appears like baseball.
  22. I highly doubt the next owner won't A) buy Wrigley Field and B) Gut the grandstands and rebuild with more seats and, perhaps establish a further distance from home plate to the outfield walls. I could see a shrewdly intelligent owner adding a 3rd deck. The more posteriors you can cram into Wrigley the more money the you make.
  23. Awesome. What could we call this law?
