  1. I feel like the Universe is bending to make the final week of the season a 'win and in' game between the Bears and Packers. I don't know how much my heart can handle a repeat of '2013 Chris Conte Falls Down.'
  2. I literally do not give a single horsefeathers if their second 1st round pick drops from 5th overall to 15th overall Maybe that makes me an irrational Bears homer, but I'll take an 8-9 season thats enjoyable to watch over a 5-12 season where they get slightly higher with their other pick
  3. No one is saying he's bad, but lots of Bears fans and other pundits have been walking back their opinion that he's a generational talent (and I think a good amount of that is that people are feeling more confident in Fields and more hesitant to pull the trigger on drafting a QB)
  4. Something Josh Lucas hammered on, and I think something NFL executives and scouts are keying on more lately is simply the amount of playing time and number of snaps mattering a whole lot more to how developed and ready a player is when they get to the pros. This is kind of intuitive stuff, but for some reason got lost in the shuffle in the last 10 years, and in the meantime people were pushing up QB development time up more and more. So guys were starting their rookie years after being drafted from college teams when they only started one year and stuff. It was madness. all this to say that it’s interesting that peoples expectations for Caleb Williams as a prospect has dropped when he’s played another year (good) faced more adversity (also good) and as far as I can tell, hasn’t revealed any new glaring issues people weren’t aware of before the year started
  5. Dang, that sucks for Ngakoue, though he's been nothing more than A Guy all season. Don't know especially what our depth is at End but it does suck to lose a guy who's at least serviceable.
  6. I’m in love with the idea of more assets. I wouldn’t say that if I didn’t think this team was pretty close to competitive. (This coming week will clarify that as well!) I’m completely on the fence with what the Bears should do, but I don’t think “being in love with more assets” is a bad strategy in the NFL! If the draft is a bit of a crapshoot, and I think we agree that it is, there’s nothing wrong with taking as many swings at the ball as you can get, especially when the roster is looking better and better.
  7. If we're intent on getting MHJ, it would be silly to not trade down and get something from the teams looking for a QB. Even if it were a 6th rounder (it would be significantly more, of course). The Patriots are 100% going to draft a QB, so there's some capital to be gained by swapping with them.
  8. Maybe I'm underrating how big of a deal a new OC is but I just don't see why it's a huge impediment to Fields. Great, good, whatever QBs get new OCs all the time. It's maybe the coaching position that changes the most from year to year. Players manage it. Far more important to me is finding an OC that is able to develop their scheme to best fit the talent than anything else.
  9. Herbert has not looked right at all since coming back and its actively hurting the team. I don't know if he's still hurt or what, but he doesn't have the burst or the vision he had beforehand. Roschon is clearly the better option at this point, and Foreman is probably the best back on the roster.
  10. I honestly don’t entirely hate the idea of drafting QB1 and keeping Fields as a bridge QB next year if you can’t get more than a 2nd for him. The roster is coming together nicely, I expect they’ll be competitive for a playoff spot next year, Why spend unnecessary money and time on an Andy Dalton type? of course you may be worried that would ruin the lockeroom but if ever there was a guy with a good attitude, it’s Fields. And hell, if he plays amazing, all possibilities are open.
  11. actually never mind! Never Count Out Touchdown Tommy the packers lose, all is right in the universe.
  12. It’s a beautiful thing when the Packers lose lmao of course, I shouldnt have said that
  13. I think his stat line oversells how well he played yesterday. (And I think his stat line in the first Detroit game undersold how well he played). He was consistently missing guys high yesterday, and even a handful of completions didn't put the receiver in the best position to get YAC. He missed Mooney wide open a few times, he missed Kmet on a sure TD (which he later redeemed with his own rushing TD), and he took one egregious sack and caused another holding penalty holding onto the ball way too long. The pass protection overall I thought was adequate to good - he just didn't pull the trigger fast enough on several occasions, and on several others he made a good play the hard way. Your mileage may vary on if thats good or bad or neutral.
  14. Browns just lost their starting right tackle for the rest of the season. Can Joe Flacco keep the magic going from here on out? This will be a fascinating game. The Browns game in 2021, for better or worse, was where the Fields starting era began - and it was a calamity. The coaching staff hung him out to dry. Will this be better? I'm expecting a very 2005 Bears-esque game. Low scoring, lots of ugly offense, and a 3 point difference.
  15. Fields didn’t show us anything new yesterday, but he did limit his mistakes and I think he was even a tad uncharacteristically inaccurate due to weather conditions/thumb/just not having a super accurate day. i just don’t think he can make the next step if he’s consistently dropping back, getting 5-6 seconds of protection, not liking what he’s seeing, and taking a sack (or, spinning wildly out of one, and maybe scrambling for a few or finding someone). The latter is great and all, but the former is all too common and disastrous to offensive consistency. The Oline protection broke down a couple times, but overall the protection was there. (I’m more concerned about the run blocking to be honest), I don’t think we can have a consistent offense if Fields isn’t ripping the ball faster - and that hasn’t changed much this year, to be honest.
  16. If there was a way to demote him to full time Defensive Coordinator and give the Head Coaching duties to someone else, I would. as it is, I’m still for firing him for any result short of them ripping off 4 more straight wins and getting a wild card berth.
  17. Fields didn’t show me anything today that would sway me from keeping the 1st overall and drafting Williams or Maye, sorry to say
  18. Man, Fields is missing everyone high And he particularly can’t hit Mooney for some reason
  19. I CANNOT believe the Lions jumped on the most obvious “we want you to jump” play, and then, beauty the Lions are outBearsing the Bears right now lol
  20. That’s a complete pass to me, so I dunno
  21. Even when Fields is completing passes, he’s throwing them high and not always giving them a chance to get some YAC this game is really not encouraging me on affirming him as a long term solution
  22. Man Goff has been mostly bad today bears still managing to grasp defeat from victory here
  23. It’s totally arbitrary and I will almost certainly change my mind again but: I’m out on Fields based on that sack alone. He does it too often and it’s inexcusable and he can’t be doing this on his 3rd year playing for his career.
  24. Ok maybe I’m out on Fields THROW THE BALL
