  1. That's been tried before, and he he didn't look so great We'll always have the memory of him making the Pirate Parrot completely crap his pants
  2. Good for them I guess, we wont have a boring September. (We probably wouldn't have anyway) I'll never hate the Brewers as much as nearly any other team in the division, so if this gets them the wild card, so much the better for them. Just don't lay a finger on my division crown. We'll be sure to have some interesting match ups against C.C. later in the season, would have loved to have him on our team, but we had neither the prospects nor the balls to make a big trade like that. Everyone get ready for Randy Wolf or season 3 of Everybody Hates Steve Trachsel
  3. Really we have a 4 game series against the Brewers in Milwaukee to round out the season? Ugh, theres a very small chance that we'll have the division wrapped up before then after all...
  4. Every franchise that has ever existed in the Majors has had this exact loss, usually multiple times throughout a season. When you play 162 games you will blow some leads in the 9th. It just has to happen. It was devastating, and its a shame it went from such a great feeling with Aramis' homer to this, but thats the way things went. It really really really sucked. Lets get em tomorrow and win the series. :P
  5. Listened to the last 2 innings of this game on the radio during my lunch break. That wasn't a rewarding experience.
  6. And if the Brewers end up losing both Sheets, and potentially CC, then they take a step backwards in development. Not only do they lose a couple of top of the line pitchers, but TOP prospects, and now they would either have to sign a pitcher, or use the picks on pitchers. Which means they would have a rotation that has a rehabbing Yovani/Suppan/Marra/Bush, etc. Not a rotation that can win a wild card, much less a rotation. So, if I am Milwaukee I better be dang sure, I could re-sign CC, if I was going to give up LaPorta plus, for a not-so-guarantee playoff push. And considering who could be available (to me the best available after Sheets and CC---no contractual options--- would be Pedro/Pettite//Garland/Dempster/Lowe and Oliver Perez) this would be a HUGE gamble on Milwaukee's part. In other words, Milwaukee would have to be guarantee two things: 1: A playoff spot. 2: A re-signed CC Sabathia. And seeing as neither is guarantee right now, it would be a huge gamble. Baseball, more than any other sport, encourages the ill-conceived blockbuster trade. Lets hope, if this does get finalized, it ends up biting the Brewers in the butt. Lets also keep in mind that its been 20 odd years since the Brewers have been in the playoffs, and after their mega-collapse there has to be some pressure for them to take some chances
  7. This is a dumb move and I can't wait until we package Gallagher in on a deal for Randy Wolf or something immensely [expletive] I knew at the beginning of the season the only thing that had to be done was someone to kneecap Marquis to get him out of the rotation, so I know what I need to do.
  8. Good. I've always disliked Francoeur. He's amazingly overrated in all aspects of the game, his defense isn't great aside from his arm, his power isn't all that impressive and he has absolutely no strike zone recognition. I hate anyone that is considered a good player and still puts up an OBP below .300 EDIT: Admittedly, he isn't really a 'bad' player, and his last year wasn't that bad overall, and he's very very young and has plenty of time to change his game up. But he's absolutely not the type of player I want on my team, TAKE A BALL FOR CHRISSAKES
  9. Gosh I would love to get CC just even if its just to block the Brewers from getting him, even if he doesn't necessarily upgrade our staff that well. OH well, its a message to Hendry to shore up that farm system, if you want to make some midseason trades, you better load yourself up with a couple bullets you are willing to unload. Burnett would be nice. Bedard no thanks.
  10. The schadenfreude I felt when the ump ringed up Glaus in the 9th was possibly the best feeling the in the world
  11. I don't like how Lee is getting hot all by his lonesome other people, do stuff
  12. God forbid we should gain some ground on anyone. Not gaining ground > Losing ground I'll take that I've been satisfied with breaking even for too long now. If the Brewers land Sabathia, a 4.5 game lead on them is not going to be enough. Who cares what you are satisfied with? We're in front, we didn't even lose the series and people are bitching Jesus
  13. pixie dust doesn't work on good players, only terrible quad A players also to stay on topic edmonds rules
  14. gambler's fallacy Not really the same situation In gamblers fallacy the chance something happens is the same every time, in baseball each pitch isn't an independent event, they relate to each other as the hitter can adapt, and the more likely the pitcher will make a mistake
  15. Can't say Theriot didn't make the man work
  16. Or you could have not swung at ball four and the same thing would have happened i mean whichever
  17. Edmonds if you hit a homer here I will like you
  18. Lee triple ITs great to see good Lee back, he's been hitting a ton of line drives
  19. this is one of my favorite game thread complaints. not scoring runs = rolling over omg omg omg omg
  20. everyone sucks, cut everyone , etc.
  21. i've only been home about 10 minutes but this zone looks ridiculous to me
  22. is any game lamer than this? this is top 10 lame game this season, just rolling over like this
  23. The terrible terrible 06 Cubs were never 1-hit? Impressive
