  1. On what basis could you even make such a statement? How often do you see every single first basemen in the National League? You couldn't possibly be able to make a good judgment on how he compares to everyone else. I'm not trying to finger you out in particular, but statements such as "I would suggest his is still top 5" well... on just anecdotal and observational evidence its very hard to make a strong claim to that.
  2. Blanco may be a crappy hitter but I enjoy his intensity and energy (I know meaningless buzzwords!) and somehow even though he's pretty much the exact same player as Cesar Izturis I can suffer watching him more than I ever could Cesar. Also he plays good defense. He's 800x the player Aaron Miles is, too bad we gave Aaron Miles a contract.
  3. Strike one to Koyie via gamecast looks very bad
  4. who else did we have? even though he's struggling he's still the only guy available who can blow hitters away in a tight spot. You...don't pull Marshall after one batter? well yeah but lou's all about matchups. he wasn't going to let him face a few righties in a row. I'm just telling you what should have been done, I'm not gonna play some theoretical mindgames about what is possible in Lou's mind

  6. God what a really brutal spot to put Marmol in when he's struggling don't know why you do it Lou
  7. Actually, and put your stakes in them as you will, the BP metrics say its the best Defensive team in the majors!
  8. blegh blargh blegh please lets get out of this
  9. Agreed on Kosuke. Its very easy to see in his approach whether he's comfortable or not.
  10. convince yourself that we do it on purpose makes you feel better about the whole thing
  11. lee's resurgence has coincided with my belated signature picture change (From an old old Cedeno picture) so yeah you can thank me for that
  12. hmm i think the secret is i can't actually physically be watching them whenever they do something good
  13. Welp to whomever thought our offense was waking up
  14. No the Cubs have the magic ability to ruin each and every prospect Come on dude, 'developing' prospects and all is a little overrated. People grow into what they are going to be for the most part. If you have superstar talent you'll probably be a superstar. For fringe players and all, maybe it has more influence. I bet all those midgets and quad A players that the Cardinals fluff into regulars might be in part because of their good organization, maybe its pixie dust. He's pretty good though. Like him as a ballplayer.
  15. I almost want him to "get over it" so to say because it pains me to keep reading those comments. I'm not one of the biggest "trading DeRo was the biggest mistake ever" guys, but I am a Mark DeRosa fan, and would have had absolutely no problem being on this team. god, that's like your ex-girlfriend texting you out of nowhere and being all "we sure did have some great times, huh?" Except you dumped said ex-girlfriend in the hopes that one of your buddies was gonna break up with the girl of our dreams then the girl of your dreams broke her elbow or something and now is on the DL
  16. Lee gets bizarrely below average range rankings in sabermetric fielding stats, whatever. He's probably not as good as our eyes would lead us to believe, he makes some nice flashy plays, he's definitely good getting the ball. His bat is coming around and I'll admit that I didn't think it would happen. Two games doesn't meant his offense is coming around yet, so they haven't drawn me back in. The way I see it its them just making up for those horribly horribly blown games on the last road trip, and in terms of emotional investment I find horribly blown games far more damaging to me than a great comeback. Can't we just have relaxing wins/defeats. You're killing me.
  17. Soriano's 'english' irks me more than Guillen Soriano has almost no command of the language, amazing that they say he knows some Japanese from when he spent some time there, but I'd love to hear how well he 'speaks' that as well
  18. LOL at the thought of 61 being the legitimate home run record, all because of steroids. If you want to ignore the smaller stadiums, smaller strike zones, the poor pitchers, and the possible juiced balls of the era be my guest. But don't pretend that steroids were the only reason for increased home runs in the past 15 years.
  19. This team blows I want this season to be over now, I dont want to deal with another 100 game of this
  20. Using my reverse-playoff-wins-to-regular-season-wins formula that Arnold inspired I have reached a number of conculsions the 114 win Seattle Mariners team is the worst of all time, they collapsed and degritted themselves away from great status. They were so gutless they refused to even make the World Series. What a worthless team
