  1. The spice is flowing!
  2. Even if they have a very remote shot, I’m very pleased to see this team have some fight in them. This was a team that just kept dropping series’s to bums. Thank god they are coming out of it.
  3. Spectacular job Cubs. After a month of scuffling baseball I’m very happy to see you all back to form. also big time props to Matt Shaw who struggled mightily, stuck with it, and has emerged as a real offensive force. You love to see it.
  4. I don’t get why Nico isn’t a contender for lead off? He’s got a .370 OBP since the ASB, he’s been one of the few very consistent hitters on the team
  5. It’s funny that everyone was mad at Jed for not doing two big things at the trade deadline: get a top of the line starting pitcher or a 3b bat. And then, the Cubs have REALLY struggled since the ASB… and yet, how are the Cubs struggling? Well it’s not starting pitching, where they’ve had a run of excellent starting pitching since the ASB, and it’s not 3B where Matt Shaw has been their best hitter the last month+, it’s every other facet of the team completely collapsing. strange how things work
  6. There’s a common misconception about “regression to the mean” that one can expect that if a player (or a team, or a roulette wheel or whatever) exceeds expectations that you can expect them to play worse as they “regress” to the mean. But that’s not what a regression to mean is. Let’s say we have a player who’s “true” (if such a thing exists) talent level is a .270 batting average. And let’s say they are blessed by the BABIP gods and hit .330 for the first half of the season. That players regression to mean isn’t to hit worse and to level those numbers out - if he were to regress it would be to hit closer to .270 again. Now of course you can expect there to be cold streaks along with hot streaks. And baseball players aren’t random number generators. But it’s important, I think.
  7. I do have to say it’s insanely annoying to know where to watch NFL games. Every week it’s a scramble for me to figure out where the Bears game is airing and more often than not I just illegally stream it.
  8. Season flow status: better!
  9. Good job boys First time I’ve been pleasantly surprised of this team since like…before the All Star Break
  10. Assume the Cubs get swept for the final 4 games and you’ll feel better if they can squeeze one win out of the week
  11. Season flow status: It's only gotten worse
  12. I don’t read “vaunted” as a mocking title, they’re vaunted because they consistently beat us and win division title after division title
  13. Lmao I had to do a work meeting and they were down 3-0 and now I saw the score Spiritually an 83 team. Nothing more, nothing less
  14. Yes, provided we give them as much credence as preseason performance. Like, it is funny that we (and I'm including myself here) clung so much to all this armchair analysis of Justin Fields and how secretly amazing he actually was, and then the last two years show that basically nobody in the NFL thinks too much of him really
  15. Obviously this is the preseason and etc etc but the Bears have never looked this efficient in a game regular season or preseason maybe…ever? willing to let myself get a bit excited. If nothing else I have complete confidence Ben Johnson knows how to call a play.
