  1. Ok, so we've established that the Cubs have a problem with pitchers with ERAs in the high 4's.... let's try something new? Can they deal with pitchers with ERAs in the high 5's in the best hitters ballpark in the league? Frankly, I'm not counting on it, but I can't wait to find out
  2. It's sad that Schwarber is the only guy from the 2016 core that still rocks. Sad he was the one we jettisoned first.
  3. If they keep insisting on expanding the playoff teams I'm ok with it. I don't want to end up in a situation akin to the NBA where more than half the teams are in the playoffs are the regular season virtually doesn't matter. The perfect system was the 3 division winners and one wildcard, or, if you must, two wildcards.
  4. Do... do you think they're the worst offense in the league
  5. The Parsons trade is one that makes sense for the Packers that wouldn’t make any sense for where the Bears are. Sucks to say, but is the truth. If everything goes right this year, that’s the kind of trade you’d make next year. anyway, I remain unintimidated by any of those teams, provided we actually make steps forward. We “should” have swept the Packers last year and I expect the Lions to take a significant step backwards. But, unfortunately, we’re likely another year away from serious contention delusions
  6. Well the way they’ve played lately is literally the worst offense in the league, and I don’t think that’s what they are
  7. Honestly this is shocking and more than that it’s shocking they’ve remained .500ish during that time
  8. This 100% lining up to be a game the cubs lose on a very stupid walk off, let’s say a walk off wild pitch
  9. Oh my god it’s like an exact replay of game 1
  10. Cubs have 4 run barrier problem. They simply struggle immensely cresting the hill to 4 runs (and, presumably the runs beyond that) - once they can get to 4 runs they're usually ok. But boy howdy its damn hard for them to reach it since the ASB.
  11. Man, the double play luck has been brutal this series. They have had several extremely strong chances at big innings ruined by a poorly timed ground ball. Get it all out of your system boys
  12. what the hell happened to Brisker man. that last concussion has seemingly set his whole career askew
  13. I think this experience all cements the fact that when your offense is bad, its the worst feeling in sports. It's bad when your pitching sucks, but at least you get a fighting chance with a good offense. But when you can't do jackshit on offense, it feels like you want to die.
  14. I need to take UMFan's perspective. In almost all regards, the season is already over. It's damn near impossible for them to catch the Brewers and it's damn near impossible for the Reds to catch them. Which makes the rest of the season more or less an exercise in making sure people are healthy, playing well, and you're prepared for the playoffs. Reach a zen status and not worry about individual wins or losses. Unless they do something really stupid and lose like 10 in a row or something.
  15. They did sweep the Rockies (at Wrigley) earlier this season.
  16. Yeah, honestly, if you have a daily podcast I'm not sure why they need a dedicated Bears podcast as well, there's only so much sports news that comes out every day and as well know, Chicago is a football town. Once football season starts the main appetite for sports content is Bears related. So they're gonna be doing a lot of redundant commentary. Hell, the Cubs have been contenders all season long and they are still a smaller fraction of the Score material than the Bears have been through training camp. As far as the live vs. podcast thing... I get the impression they're recording these the morning they're released? Which is a pretty darn fast turnaround and is close enough to live events that it will be pretty up to date.
  17. i'm taking it as a given the defense will be mediocre to bad we're on year 3 or 4 of me being like 'i dont care if the defense is bad, just show improvement on the offense' and each time it doesn't improve. 🤷‍♂️
  18. Very annoying that this team is doing this immediately after a rare sweep on the road and also holding leads in both of these games
  19. I won’t be able to handle it if they lose another game to this trash ass team when they had a lead earlier in the game
  20. Lefty with a 4.91 ERA? Oof, we’re in for rough sledding
  21. this is shaping up to be a classic annoying Cubs (TM) loss. happy to be very wrong, of course.
  22. PCA may drive me nuts from time to time with some TOOTBLANs but his speed and aggressiveness also results in runs that otherwise wouldn't have happened, so you take the bad with the good
