  1. Baller start for Lackey. I do in fact love this team.
  2. I am mostly fine too other than it seems like even when he squares a ball up it doesn't go real far and his defense has just been kinda meh I am a little concerned that he doesn't quite have the power to carry the ball out anymore but even so, he'd be a valuable player.
  3. This offense feels like June-July 2015 Cubs which was always struggling to scratch runs across until things heated up after the All Star Break
  4. Yeah that was the thing for me, Bob and Len had a really good chemistry. Bob had terrible baseball opinions but they worked really well together.
  5. *whispers* I liked Bob better than JD
  6. Some people react very strongly to losses, some people don't, yelling from either side will never convince the other side because it's a purely visceral response. Also rehashing the debate out for the umpteenth time. Here's a fair warning: I will post very angrily if the Cubs don't play well against the Cardinals coming up because of emotions and this place can be cathartic
  7. Oh good Christ they got another run? This game is dumb. Ugh.
  8. Christ this is a painful game to follow. Well, top of the order and against the Rockies, so a 9th inning comeback isn't too unlikely.
  9. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18w8nevacs25wgif/ku-xlarge.gif This gives me life. Someone hit a donger ok
  10. Does anyone have the gif of Raul Ibanez spiking a ball into the ground in the outfield it's so amazing
  11. "His own bat" had a lead off double. It seems silly to pick on that today. Nah I mean going back to last year (clearly) "Hard luck" implies he pitched well and didn't "deserve" the loss. Dunno why you're mad at me.
  12. 1-6 in the order are a collective 0-16 with a walk, I mean, you're gonna lose if you do that
  13. Jon Lester seems to take way more hard luck losses than any other pitcher on the team. (Of course this game isn't over and also he's paaartly to blame for insisting on Ross and his own bat)
  14. Rockies pitchers have really made it tough on Cubs hitters except for that late outburst yesterday. I have no idea who any of these guys are but well good on em I guess.
  15. It would be so delicious if the Cardinals just collapsed as a team (they wont, because they'll just call up some schmo to OPS .850, but still)
  16. Wait did the Cardinals really lose on a batters interference? Hahaha if that happened to my team I'd be piiiiiiissed
  17. I'm a little younger than much of this board so I heavily identify Len as the voice of the Cubs (I really started paying attention after the 2003-2004 teams and Len started in 05 I believe) and I still miss Bob quite a bit. Even if he was wrong on a bunch of things they were a great team.
  18. Please let this be Soler for the rest of the season
  19. Yeah I think I'm prepared to say the Trevor Story "thing" is over
  20. I keep hearing people say this but I really have no idea what the benefits of doing away with errors would be. There is no benefit to having them as currently implemented. The difference between a poorly hit ball that drops for a hit or a poorly hit ball that a fielder trips and doesn't get to or a poorly hit ball that the fielder muffs is no difference at all. Yeah thats my issue with it, whats the difference between a blooper that squeezes in vs. a well struck grounder that a fielder plays off his mitt? The whole idea of the error introduces this strange moral element about whether the hitter "deserves" to be on base or whether the fielder "should" have gotten it. It totally warps how we think about defense too. Its just an archaic relic and we shouldn't have them, but I don't expect we'll ever get rid of them anytime soon.
