    I'm kind of annoyed the Cardinals are showing life again. I liked it better when they were buried and totally and completely irrelevant, and now they're just like barely relevant. I demand a 6-0 home sweep of both Pirates and Cardinals on that short homestand.

    I literally can't get inside the mind of someone who predicts or expects the 2016 Cubs to lose a series to anyone, no matter what the rotation arrangements are. Like, I'm as dramatic and prone to emotion more than anyone else here, and I still expect the Cubs to win every series they enter. (justifiably)

    I'm almost afraid to declare his painful spring over, but Heyward does look like a very different hitter up there. If he is out of it and a productive, confident hitter with power and patience, that just ups the amazingness of this team that much more. I'm encouraged. Also, god Counsell's stance is just annoying to even look at

    he wasn't wrong, though. coghlan scored on an E9 Yep, Jones was right but when Markakis inexplicably tried to barehand and kicked it, going home was the right choice(and still a wee bit close a play). That's what I'm getting at: Even when Gary Jones is right, he's wrong

    I really like the whole "jump on the throat of a bad team" thing in the first inning. Too bad they couldn't get a second run in. Zobrist has started getting out of his funk but the dude was almost impossible to strike out for a month so every strike out seems shocking to me.

    Arrieta is one of the few non knuckleballers that's demonstrated the ability to generate consistent weak contact. He's definitely the exception that proves the rule. I ain't backing down on Chris Sale. I think he lost a few miles per hour on his fastball and is grasping at straws. He can do what he wants but he's looking like a vastly diminished pitcher now (though still comfortably above average.)

    some pitchers literally say they are looking to pitch to more contact, including arrieta and sale this year Pitchers say a lot of things. Sale I'm almost positive is trying to not scare people with his drop in velocity by saying something that sounds strategic but he's literally just not missing as many bars with his stuff anymore

    "Pitching to contact" is a myth. No pitcher looks for contact, not even ones that have low K rates.

    Yep, even that last start his stuff was incredible and the Dbacks got some hits off balls hit so poorly they couldn't be fielded

    If Cole is dead than the rest of the NL Central schedule should be canceled and we just start stretching for playoffs
