    I always feel like its tempting fate to root for certain teams to make the postseason, but if the bum Marlins make the postseason I couldn't imagine a better scenario for the Cubs. Miami being held together by a bunch of slap hitters BABIPing their way to .300+ averages and one pitcher, and everything else is garbage.

    Scissors....batting 2nd? Ah well, whatever. I know jokes are jokes, but I remember hearing Kris Bryant was straight edge and never drank, and now I can't even find evidence for that online. So maybe I just imagined it.

    Boy I hadn't realized how much the Pirates have swooned lately, they're all the way back to .500 This series, with the division already determined, could just as well knock em out of playoff hopes altogether

    Players need hope to keep playing with purpose. I get that. But its god damn bonkers delusional to actually think they'll be within 4 games by the all-star break. The Cubs only play 20 some games between now and then. And have been way better than you the entire time.

    Federowicz had...uh...I think one bloop RBI hit in the home series against the Nationals. So he wasn't completely useless, but very very close to it. This is fun and exciting news, and its nice to get it on an off day. I hope this helps give Miggy more rest so he gets back to doing his regular thang.

    Is Davis Ross the one with the 1.2 WAR or the -0.2? What difference does that make? Ross has never had a WAR over 1.9 in his career, and he's only touched 1.0 a few times. Most folks here were hoping he would retire before last season was even over. Yeah, Miggy has sucked this year, but we're talking about a small sample size. He has a much better offensive track record than Ross. I think this says more about Montero's health than anything about his performance. I suspect the back is lingering, its affecting him defensively and offensively, and they know that Ross is a part-time player at best. And Federowicz isn't a major league player. I guess they think they can give him enough work to make it worthwhile for Contreras.
