    Arrieta is one of the few non knuckleballers that's demonstrated the ability to generate consistent weak contact. He's definitely the exception that proves the rule. I ain't backing down on Chris Sale. I think he lost a few miles per hour on his fastball and is grasping at straws. He can do what he wants but he's looking like a vastly diminished pitcher now (though still comfortably above average.)

    some pitchers literally say they are looking to pitch to more contact, including arrieta and sale this year Pitchers say a lot of things. Sale I'm almost positive is trying to not scare people with his drop in velocity by saying something that sounds strategic but he's literally just not missing as many bars with his stuff anymore

    "Pitching to contact" is a myth. No pitcher looks for contact, not even ones that have low K rates.

    Yep, even that last start his stuff was incredible and the Dbacks got some hits off balls hit so poorly they couldn't be fielded

    Yeah seems weird to put Baez at first when you could play him literally at any other infield spot and come out of it with a better defense but as said Whatever Especially ones that will remain nagging the rest of the year like backs and hammys Plexiglass principle! As I've said before, this team needs to bring Rusty Jones out of retirement. I'm grateful that all of the injuries have occurred to the hitters and the pitchers have had a sterling injury record. 2015 was a bit of a fluke in that we suffered almost no injuries to our starting rotation and I want to see that continue.

    Per 670 the Score, Rizzo is scratched due to back tightness I'm good with the injuries stopping right now

    As a gamblin' man 6-1 sounds like great odds to put money on the Braves really because I think the Braves have a better than 16.67% chance of winning this game But I'll never put money on an opposing team because that just seems like a great way to destroy your own psyche

    Yeah I was saying in the General Chit-Chat thread that his minor league KK-BB ratio is 64-332, which is like, shockingly bad Of course the White Sox would get excited about a guy that strikes out 5 times for every walk

    So now all of White Sox Nation is talking about potential calling up Tim Anderson and I decided to check his stats and he has a career minor league 64-332 BB-KK ratio So basically, the perfect White Sox player. Why should I expect him to not get eaten alive at the majors?

    I like that David Haugh spent the last 4 years whining and second guessing Theo and Jed and now, without a single mea culpa or anything, just goes and uses the Cubs to bash the White Sox Sure, whatever The dude is totally shameless

    I was looking at Coghlan's stats and thought "oh, a .487 Slg, thats not bad at all" and then realized that was his OPS He's had a real rough year in the Coliseum. I can imagine him plugging in and being useful for a few weeks which is what we'll likely need him for.
