    These last two weeks have been *punishing*. They get a good offensive performance = bullpen blows it. They have a tight game and the starter is at least holding it together = offense has hard hit balls go for double plays. Absolutely no breaks happening. At least the doom spiral is happening in the midpoint of the season.

    I'd feel better if there was *any* indication that he is going to turn around but everything is softly hit. He pops up, grounds out softly to 2nd, or strikes out. Those homers were nice for a stretch but nothing has been sustained. Not surprisingly his Soft Hit% is way up and his Hard Hit % is way down. He's just gonna have to keep doing what he's doing in the outfield and on the basepaths like he has the whole season. Didn't think Baez and Russell would be out-and-out better hitters this year than Heyward, but so it is.

    Yeah, the catching prospect coming up and looking amazing happens all the damn time. - Russell getting fixed - Bryzzo going on monster tears - Carl's Jr coming up and suddenly not walking guys - Warren coming up and giving five solid - etc. It's actually pretty interesting how a whole lot is going great for this team: all of those things plus Addisson being a monster at the plate, Zobrist showing power again, and yet in the last two weeks they've lost a whole bunch of games because everyone in the starting rotation except Hendricks has had bad starts and the bullpen has been a revolving door of blown saves

    I've become emotionally numb to the blown losses (which is probably good all in all because these games barely matter and the Cubs will get out of this funk soon)

    Addy also just pulled his OPS+ above 100 and his slugging above .400 Plus offensive value + the best defense at his position in the league isn't bad, is it?

    Montero has a delightful personality, and I love how he seems pumped about everything, including earning a walk. But boy has he been painful to watch play this year. Baez has the same weird personality though, so we can eject Montero into the sun.
