I cannot root for Cubs losses as long as it potentially endangers their potential to win 100 games. This is a very arbitrary benchmark I find very important.
Does someone like Gregor Blanco even give you an upgrade over say Albert Almora offensively? I get that handedness is an issue, but presumably with Schwarber and Heyward back and giving you something, you have 2 left handed outfield bats there.
Javy is unbelievably talented defensively but sometimes makes totally inexplicable decisions like earlier in the year at short when he threw to third to try to get a runner and Bryant wasn't expecting it and it cost us a run
A's currently doing an admirable job lowering our Magic Number. Thank you for letting my favorite team sweep you, and for being on the verge of taking a series from our rivals. And for Addison Russell, I guess
you know if Montgomery gets out of this inning, all things considered, not a disastrous outing. really tough, he's been his own worst enemy, but 5 IP 3 R from your swingman isn't the worst thing.
its cool to get back from the gym, see the Cubs are up, and then go jump in the shower before going out thanks west coast baseball time, just this once
With interleague and a relative competitive balance between leagues (it obviously changes year to year but not by much) just make the best record in MLB the home field owner. It at least gives a carrot to teams that have pretty much secured their spot to stay competitive in September. Isn't that what MLB wants for viewers to keep watching? (A month of games vs one All Star game)
The astonishing thing about the Cubs drought isn't a legacy of playoff futility so much as a legacy of them making the playoffs merely 7 times in 70 years
Don't get me wrong: I don't want to face the cardinals again - I don't want to give them the ~40% possibility of fluking a win on us - but if that is the case I'm just saying there are positives to it
