  1. lol David is gonna love a gif of Kolten Wong's face firmly planted on the outfield grass
  2. Just want to jump in and say, Baseball is Good, God Bless Baseball
  3. The only time I actually get kinda quasi-superstitious is when it comes to rooting for different playoff opponents because I've done it in the past and I feel like I got slammed down with some sort of Greek tragedy hubris. The Diamondbacks were an obvious one - rooted hard for that, they were an actual *bad* team that luck fluked their way to 90 wins, and I pulled hard down the stretch for that match up. And last year I pulled hard for the Mets against the Dodgers because they seemed like by far the lesser opponent in that match up. (not to mention, no matter how little it matters, how well we did against them in the regular season). I knew all of it only added up to small bits of an edge, but it was how I put together my rooting interests. This time I will strive to be blissfully non-partisan.
  4. is there any reason to watch another Bears game this year
  5. Oh my god Barry Rozner is so god damn stupid "If Strop is good and healthy...is Edwards on the roster?" Yes, what, what are you even talking about
  6. Its stupid that I get increasingly agitated as the Cubs win games in garbage time and yet see their WS% drop on the fangraphs mode that isn't season-to-date. Like, for no reason at all, they went fro ~19% to ~16% after the Brewers and Reds series. But its also, completely, whatever. I believe the season-to-date and 538 numbers are the most reasonably accurate- about a 25% chance to win the World Series. Which is really, really, really good. Also the Cubs just matched last years win totals at 97, and have 10 more games to play. The baseball gods are good.
  7. Now that I inow about how whacky the rules get when there's a three way tie for the wildcard, I'm rooting for that madness to occur
  8. The Bears for the past 3 years have done an excellent job of killing my interest in football a couple more years like this and I will detach from caring about the NFL completely
  9. lol, just lol. What else can you say. A mediocre roster gets bombarded with important injuries and its over. It altogether strains my interest to even passively follow the Bears when the Cubs are doing what they're doing.
  10. This game was cool because every time the Bears did something to make me sad I turned my head and the Cubs were doing something cool. And an oppo Heyward home run!? That's his only of the season right?
  11. Just figure out a way to go at least 6-7 down the stretch, Cubs
  12. Talked with my friend who's on the Cubs social media team: they're planning a Javy Baez focused highlight reel, so be excited for that
  13. All in all, another good start from Kyle who got dinked and dunked for some runs but also K'ed 9 dudes and walked nobody
  14. Yeah I don't see a way La Stella gets a 3b start with both Bryant and Baez available there and as was said, Soler playing some damn good baseball
  15. Jesus Christ how bad can La Stella get at third before he's denied the privilege of playing there
  16. There you go Jake. Just keep it free and easy
  17. Last I checked Cogs has been a net positive as a Cubs (owing to, bizarrely, his defense this year), I do like how he's gotten on base. I don't see how he makes the playoff roster though.
  18. The more I think about it, the more I'm completely satisfied with the Cardinals missing the playoffs to the Mets and Giants. It really puts an exclamation point on who's division this is for the forseeable future (ours), and they have no chance to redeem themselves after last year. Cubs may lose to the Mets again and that could potentially suck, but their rotation is a shadow of what it was last year. And the Giants, well, I have less emotional ties to that team, other than their connection to the Devil and Even Year Black Magic
  19. lol Lester is being interviewed on the Score and he totally dropped a "everyone gives a horsefeathers" and there was no way they could censor it
  20. It's a very tiny thing, but it is neat the Cubs gave themselves a win to celebrate the division title (and I'm listening to it and it sounds pretty raucous)
  21. Vin Scully is fine you heathens
  22. Miggy is figuring out the bat just in time for the playoffs, which is good
