  1. nobody who is named "scooter" should be a major league player
  2. Can Soler actually play an extended period of time without having some soft tissue injury or is he literally a precious antique china doll
  3. Nice. Nice. I so want Albert Almora to be a useful offensive player because if he isn't totally worthless with a bat : he's an extremely valuable player
  4. i would unabashedly wear garish ugly World Series apparel though
  5. ahhhh the notorious Cubs Killer comes in - shocked he wouldn't start every single game this series
  6. dont catch my players' flyballs - it makes me angry
  7. hmm. well it'll be nice if we can hit some of those
  8. Well, that K rate is still lower than when he was awful in 2014 and if thats him at his worst thats really not too bad
  9. there it is - Lackey likes living inside the plate, thats gonna happen
  10. Chase Anderson has literally not thrown a single strike yet and somehow, astonishingly, Javy strikes himself out
  11. the lead off hitter gets walked on 4 pitches Javy, naturally, swings wildly at the first pitch out of the strike zone
  12. Somehow Lackey has thrown 3 pitches straight down the middle of the plate, one was called a ball and none of them have been smacked for a home run I continue to be amazed that he is seemingly the only pitcher that can do this
  13. I want a number over 100, and it would be cool to have losses under 60, because that just look absurd Last team to win that much over 100 was the 2009 Yankees with 103 and they comfortably won the World Series (its weird how little this team gets brought up with all the GOOD TEAMS ALWAYS LOSE garbage) and before that the 2004 Cardinals with 105 wins I think and they got undressed and swept in 4 games by the Red Sox which was pretty lol I'm looking back through the records and jesus that 2011 Philies team was absurd - won 102 games, had Halladay, Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt all at the top or near the top of their game. Maybe the best comp for us in the recent history, except our offense and defense is way better)
  14. It pretty funny that the greatest swoon the Cubs suffered, and the Cardinals greatest push, resulted in them drawing as close as.......6 and a half games It's one of the smoothest divisional wins of the wild card era
  15. nah its not that odd of a take, Lester has a very punchable face love the dude but yeah
  16. Before the season I kept telling myself "don't be disappointed if they win fewer than the 97 from the 2015 team, it's very hard to win 97 games and they could be an even better team and win fewer games." But I kept looking at the roster and thinking, damn, this team is just too damn talented. It's got to be better than last years. And, well, how right I was.
  17. bummer we lost this but I think we've seen enough encouraging things from Montgomery as a starter that makes him a legitimate contender for being the 5th starter next year
  18. the two weeks plus between clinching and the beginning of the playoffs will be excruciating
  19. Lester starting last year with like 5 flukily bad starts because of terrible BABIP luck really soured people on him for the year and its unfortunate because he's been been nothing short of fantastic these entire 2 years
  20. I was gonna offer this. That season BABIP of .251 is so ludicrously out of step with decades of history... are we *that* good on defense and *that* good at getting weak contact? (Perhaps pitchers who induce weak contact synergize exceptionally well with great defenders, both improving each other?) If it was just luck though, and we were that much of an outlier, you would have expected the half season BABIP to start regressing, and it really hasn't, over thousands of batted balls. I dunno.
  21. The randos are flooding onto the boards and its only going to get worse as the playoffs near
  22. The Mets, Giants or Cardinals are an awful trifecta but I will be happy if the Even Year [expletive] does avoid the postseason because I think the second they hit the postseason in a year thats divisible by 2 and they are guaranteed a World Series appearance
