  1. There's basically no way a .900+ OPS season can be a disappointment so I'm not really sure what you're expecting. I expect Bryant to get better and better, but players performance doesn't fit a nice curve up and down with their peak and decline. And he's really really good and nearly putting up the same numbers as last year except with apparently a decline in his defense right now so I'm not getting it.
  2. [muses to himself, bored at work] huh, i wonder if the game got started yet [checks score] oh
  3. I wonder if a trade like this is a signal towards approaching the playoffs with every starter on a very short leash and letting a super powerful good bullpen handle roughly half or a majority of each game. A lot of teams were starting to move in that direction over the past couple years, and the Indians wanted to leverage their two best relievers that way last year (and, uh, lost) but maybe thats the plan as far as any sort of "magic sauce" (that I agree doesn't exist, there's just way too much variance for anything to make a huge dent in a handful of games) in the playoffs.
  4. i mean how can you not know who he is? he came in the big bonifacio/russell deadline deal of 2014 he's not real
  5. who would play 3B? baez vs a righty? no thanks Caratini has a .500 OPS though I'm fine if the half-surrender lineup goes to Lackey though because I hate him
  6. This dude can't throw 3 strikes before 4 balls. Just take your base
  7. I'm Monty Burns here steepling my fingers over these Cubs wins
  8. He did, for whatever its worth, just pull his OPS above .700 today too In terms of arbitrary stat lines, it'll be nice to see him pull that average over the Mendoza line. Let him work the rest of it out over the rest of the season.
  9. oh my god coomer that was a classic butchery of what happened, i had no idea what was going on as the Sox tied it
  10. baseball is good baby i bet Baez's OPS is nearing .800 - the Soriano path to an over .800 OPS
