  1. you have now spoken this into existence (i'd be ok with this outcome if there are no INTs honestly)
  2. Do we think Eberflus and Poles are that motivated to make sure to win 7 games rather than 5? This isn't the end of the Matt Nagy era where he felt desperate to keep his job, these guys have at least this year to develop people. They aren't getting fired if they bottom out this year.
  3. Wow, shocked to see Blackson so poorly rated - saw him make penetration on a few plays (and get held a few times) and thought that spoke well to his performance but clearly not
  4. I don’t know if it’s eternal Bears brain on my end but uh…we have two games of information from Fields in his second year. A lot of it is ugly, but not all of it. Game 1, in bizarre conditions, was not an unqualified disaster, in fact I’d say it was on the whole positive. Game 2 was pretty bad. The most concerning thing for me is he’s still not feeling pressure and reacting properly to it. Holding the ball too long, scrambling to the wrong area, taking unnecessary sacks. The Line is awful in pass pro and I suspect the receivers aren’t getting enough separation. But it can’t be this bad, he’s gotta get the ball out faster or leave the pocket faster. I hope the Bears coaching staff lets him run on offense like a professional QB, warts and all. If it leads to blow outs, fine, we need the data. It’s a lost year regardless.
  5. Yeah really not interested in doing a JFK bullet analysis of the challenge on the goal line. A bad play call, a probable TD, but not a call the refs will overturn without incontrovertible evidence, which wasn’t there. I think even if the coaches are doubting Fields abilities, 9 attempts is way too few before we’re down 3 scores in the 4th. There were downs where they ran which were basically forfeiting the drive. Running on 2nd and 19? You can’t do that. You simply cannot. If Fields and the passblocking fails you in such circumstances, so be it. But you have to play modern football. You can’t surrender drives.
  6. It would be cool to play the packers when they don’t have a generational hall of fame quarterback sometime in my life I think the last time the bears played the packers and they didn’t have a hall of fame quarterback I was like 6 years old
  7. Definitely a touchdown but a terrible play call
  8. Ugh Too many broken plays, miscommunication. Shades of Nagy haunting us.
  9. If it’s that easy to run on the Bears this is gonna be a VERY ugly year
  10. Dang. Well I guess it’s a blow out game then. Really too bad the schedule gave us them in the first game on the road.
  11. Wow this game not only sucks but is boring in how closely it follows the script of a Bears Packers game. A hope-inducing early drive that is never followed up on. Some flashy plays on defense that can’t be sustained. A kick returner being really stupid and losing yards for no reason. Again, I’m asking you, be surprising. Don’t do the same game we’ve seen 20 times.
  12. Getting run on is bad. Not good.
  13. uhhhhhhhh very bad
  14. We need consistent offensive movement, can’t have these three and out nothing jobs in the NFL anymore. Especially against Rodgers. Game feels very familiar, I hope it becomes surprising.
  15. Haha that was pretty cool but very clearly past the line of scrimmage
  16. Damn, amazing job by the defense there. Let’s see a better drive here folks
  17. Fields…..you can’t do that buddy. Gotta feel that pressure and either move and or get rid of it sooner
  18. Blegh. Let’s see how Fields responds. I want some stops. I want Rodgers hammered.
  19. Absolutely don’t like how this game is being called already
  20. Fields! Yes! Montgomery finding holes as well. And honestly, defense is looking allriiiiiight so far. The sack was huge. Rodgers is finding first downs but it isn’t without a struggle.
  21. Regarding Fields, I will continue to do the thing every homer fan does - choose to pay attention only to the positive signs and eye-popping plays, and ignore anything concerning.
  22. Expecting a heartbreaker, hoping for a win
  23. I'm not sure it did... did you see Santos' two XP attempts? Yeah fair point, the 47 yard try is far from guaranteed
  24. What a nice fun win to open the season. The first half was misery, of course. It felt again like "oh god....here we go again, it's the Bears and they're gonna just play like the Bears again" and what a nice surprise in the second half. Of course you the weather was a huge factor, as were the numerous penalties. We got a few to really break our way, although the one bizarre, never-before-in-my-watching-of-the-NFL penalty hit the Bears and cost us 3 points. But still, previous Bears teams have had things break their way in a similar fashion against good teams and still collapsed. This one didn't. It's a shame that our next game is against the fuckin Packers at Lambeau, but well, they looked terrible yesterday. So there's that. I'm just happy to see some real gumption from this team, so continue to play hard and protect Fields and don't be an embarrassment.
  25. Extremely into the pitch clock - not into the restrictions of the shift. Seems like there's still leeway to move infielders around a bit, but you can't do extreme shifts like they once did. I just like as much strategy involved in what teams can do - rewards skill and understanding. Oh well. It's also not fun to have offense so weak. I hate having a .700 OPS be a 100 OPS+
