  1. wow the patriots really dont look super good (so far)
  2. stop tossing the ball Overall, not an embarrassing start to the game. This kind of mudder game seems to play well to Fields' strengths. And the O-line is holding, so far.
  3. please dont be an embarrassment please dont be an embarrassment please dont be an embarrassment thats my only thought today
  4. The observation that the short passing game basically doesn't exist is my impression as well. The fact that the run game has also been pretty effective probably factors in - why even attempt 3-5 yard slants and such if you feel like you can get 4 yards on the regular? My anecdotal impression is that Fields is both inaccurate on these types of passes and the receivers are just complete crap. Short passing is where timing, position, accuracy are all paramount. There isn't chemistry between them, they aren't adjusting well to his ball (which is often all over the place) and they usually aren't getting up field or breaking tackles, which is necessary for that kind of offense (which is also.....just how offense is generated in the modern NFL). Basically we have a 1970s offense - no short passing game, run on 1st and 2nd down, and Fields attempts a 10+ yard pass on 3rd down. And he's shockingly good in those situations, given the circumstances!
  5. The Marion Barber doesn't go out of bounds loss hurts but I'm surprised the Falcons game from...2009 or 2010 or so they lost after taking the lead with like 20 seconds to go and the Falcons get in field goal range on like 1 play was pretty devastating. Regarding everything else : Trade any defensive player for value, get whatever you can. Trade down if you have a high pick, get as many picks as possible. This all seems eminently urgent to me. Its borderline criminal that they didn't do more to give Fields protection before this year. Utterly unfair to let him "develop" and experience under these conditions. Of course, it plays until typical Bears narrative that makes it more difficult to evaluate how good he actually is. The wheel turns and the story stays the same....
  6. I used to be all on team 'tank for better picks' but right now we're talking about the difference of 5 or 6 draft spots....which shouldn't be a make or break for putting together a roster. The team is gonna have a top 10 pick regardless. I care less about where they pick than having confidence they know where they're weak on the roster and what talent can help them. And I'm not feeling....overly confident right now.
  7. Peyton Manning was also dogged for his supposed playoff 'ineptitude' before he took one down (with some thanks to the Bears) and then another with the Broncos. I dunno, there's no way to settle these arguments without relying a little bit on subjectivity and perception, and I know when I watch Rodgers I'm watching one of the greats (he also happens to be a whiny baby but that shouldn't factor in, in my mind)
  8. i mean he's still one of the greatest qbs of all time and that'll never be taken away from him but its about time he goes away forever its only fair that green bay now suffers 30 years of pain and irrelevance, like we have (will that happen? of course not, even if they have a tough season this year they'll magically acquire and develop the next greatest QB of all time)
  9. Oh my god are the Packers finally Bad? Of course if they are, it would happen in a year where the Bears are in full collapse mode. Still, would be nice if they were Bad and were Bad for a prolonged period of time
  10. His average time to throw will be 5.5 seconds instead of 3.5 seconds. He generally looks pretty good when he has protection I'm not jumping on this bandwagon
  11. In the moment, I complain a lot about play calling. But on reflection, if you have absolutely horrific personnel, wide receivers who can't get open and who can't catch the ball, and, an admittedly erratic QB, you can only blame so much on the offensive play calling. They just can't execute anything consistently, except maybe run play (but not short yardage run plays when they desperately need to pick up 2 or fewer yards, hilariously!)
  12. Fields deserves better than this
  13. haha they're not gonna score are they
  14. This team shouldn’t make me angry. I shouldn’t be angry right now. They aren’t competitive. But good lord they’re so dumb, so embarrassingly bad and dumb and Fields maybe hasn’t played the best game but he deserves better than this.
  15. Lmao Absolute humiliation
  16. Wow I hate this team
  17. Wow the commanders really are the only worse team in the league than the bears huh HAHHAHAH NEVERMIND
  18. Horrific possibly game losing call on 3rd and 1
  19. Bears D currently trying to emulate the first half against the Vikings
  20. Bears decide to finally score? Bears defense collapse: engage
  21. What the hell is going on
  22. I don't know how gambling odds works, does that mean if I wager $100 on Fields throwing for 250 yards I would win $750 ? Because if so that seems like a pretty smart bet, I mean, pretty great payout, I think he's a better 13.3% chance to hit that
  23. I'm not confident the Bears are gonna win this, especially on short rest. I'm anticipating some pretty sloppy football from both teams. The one thing I really wish for is better Oline play. I'm feeling more confident that Fields can play pretty well if he gets a modicum of protection. If he's under pressure all day he (like many non-elite and elite QBs) falls into poor patterns. If he is to be a top of the line QB, though, he's gotta figure out how to be at least *non-catastrophic* with crummy protection.
  24. JT absolutely clowning on Mustipher is hilarious. On that 4th down play, somehow, the Center, the Left Guard and the Left Tackle *all* miss their assignments, almost impossible to do!
  25. Feeling good about this game. Woulda been nicer to see Fields get a chance to tie it up, but he played really well in the second half. And the bad players played *exceptionally* badly, which is good! Hopefully it forces the front office to cut them!
