If Manny is a Cubs, surely Murton won't be. If this were a perfect world, as Vance suggested keep Murton in LF and move Manny to RF. Then you could trade Jones for anything. Yeah I'd never insult Hendry if he could pull this off. Too bad I'm getting my hopes up... -
Per rotoworld, 1 yr 8 mil with a 9 mil option. Done deal to Dodgers. That's really cheap in this market. Why couldn't Hendry have gotten into this?

How good do you guys think Igawa will be? Would he be a stud 3 pitcher? If not, why do we even want him? Hill is a great 4 and Prior/Miller is an awesome 5.

Rotoworld said they were still interested in signing Schmidt ... Penny wouldn't be on the market unless they signed another starter in addition to Wolf.

Who are the Astros starters besides Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez? I don't know much about Woody, but if he turns out to be their 2/3 starter, I'd be very happy.

I agree...Atleast we know there is no way in hell we can be as bad as last season...Im a surprised with all Hendry has done so far, and its only a day after thanksgiving..There will be plenty more to come,especially around the winter meetings...Only if Jason Schmidt accepts the 3 year/45 mil contract Hendry offered him...Id prolly cry then I dont know what.. What, where? chicagocubsonline.com said Bruce Levine reported this offer Monday or Tuesday (I can't remember). Other forums picked it up and we discussed it in the Schmidt thread. Seeing as nobody else has reported it in the last few days, it is probably bogus ....darn :cry:

Are there any rumors about what Hendry is working on right now? Hopefully he can make another big transaction before the winter meetings.

If we fail to get Schmidt, but manage to trade for Westbrook, what free agent starting pitcher would you guys like to get? Meche, Wolf, Lilly, Bautista, Marquis and Padilla are the names I've heard thrown around.

Barrett should be 6th, not 5th). I'd love to trade Izturis and then sign Lugo, however. A 6-8 of murton, derosa, izturis would be horrendous. -
Haha. To think that we are contenders after signing one good free agent after a 66 win season... :lol: I didn't say the Cubs as a contender, did I? But after retaining ARam, and locking Soriano, that CAN'T be worse the 66 wins again. And my point is still the same...there are only two legit WC teams that have the money (perhaps) and are contenders....the Dodgers and the Giants. And the Giants are resign to letting him go. And the Mariners, while his home state, looks like they may be heading more into rebuilding the contending, and why waste a few yrs in Seattle, and not winning. Coupled with getting Soriano, I believe Schmidt would help instantly make the Cubs a contender. Moreso then adding mulitple guys like Meche/Westbrook and Lilly. Agreed. I was just messin with ya.

I remember reading that Schmidt has had some injury problems in the past. Is this anything that we should be concerned about? We don't need another SP missing time.
