  1. At the end of the year, are you gonna care? If it costs us the division I will If we lose the division, it's not going to be this game that's the cause. It's gonna be the 18 more that we lose down the stretch. If we lose the division by 1 game, splitting the season series vs the worst team in baseball will have had nothig to do with it? Interesting logic. If we lose the division by 1 game, that means we're losing to the likes of the Reds, Pirates, and Astros down the stretch. Those are division teams, that we play a ton of. Those records are much more meaningful than a couple of 3 game series against the Nats. How about this? This game is a tradeoff for the one against the Marlins that we should've lost....

  3. pot kettle etc. Do you know how old it gets having to be a referee between you two? How hard is it to leave each other alone?

  5. I still believe that the Jason Marquis no-hitter is out there. I still believe.
  6. Jason Marquis, Neal Cotts, Bob Howry. You have to use them sometime. I'd rather it be against the Nationals.
  7. and i never undersand how grown (?) men (?) literally act like five year olds denied a lollipop when their first place, slam dunk to make the playoffs baseball team gets behind 6-4 in the sixth inning of a virtually meaningless baseball game. yet it happens. Have you never watched a game with you buddies or at a bar, no matter how unimportant the game is and got pissed off when the team strokes it? It happens. no. that sounds like a miserable time. I'm guilty of that. I went to Wednesday Cubs game with my 16 year old sister, 11 year old sister, 10 year old brother and dad and I sulked like a baby when they lost. I'm pathetic :) Being at the game is a little different than being at the bar and having the game on. Your focus is a little different.

To the level that people whine in game threads? Nope. At a bar I shrug, turn away from the game, take a swig of beer, and find out whose turn it is at pool.
  9. Without a doubt. Yes, how dare people expect to win a game against the worst team in baseball after leading 4-0. Ridiculous. feel free to fly off the handle whenever you want. don't be surprised when people say you're being irrational or crazy, though. So you think it's irrational to be upset about blowing a 4-0 against a terrible hitting team by issuing multiple walks? Nope. But I think people can be upset without being irrational. So how was I being irrational? Wow, Derrek Lee just missed 2 straight meatballs right down the middle. Was a general statement about the game thread overreaction. It wasn't specifically directed at you, even though it was in response to your question.

  11. Quick, name a better option vs. a lefty off the bench without burning the backup catcher. Jim Edmonds, Mike Fontenot, Carlos Zambrano, Kery Wood, Chad Gaudin, Rich harden, Ryan Dempster, Ted Lilly... Crap like that is just irritating. Which I'm sure is the point.
  12. Hey guys, I'm only half paying attention....how's Marquis no-hitter bid going?
  13. 2-0 is acceptable as well if the stars are aligned.
  14. Don't pick Brady. He's got a bum foot.
  15. Man thats just insane..That team had to be phenomanal..Thats got to be the or one the best records in MLB history..Is there any other team that had over 80 games over? Or the overall talent level in the league was low, and the best players were on a few teams. (I don't know enough baseball history to know if this is the case, just speculating.)
  16. Those Rich Harden and Aramis Ramirez guys are pretty good too. Oh yeah definitely :good: . DeRosa has had so much impact in versatility, defense and surprisingly great offensive numbers this year. His impact has been bigger than Harden for sure, hard to say if he's been more important that Aramis, but he plays very well in ARams stead. lol...Mark Derosa is a nice player, but to say he's for sure been bigger impact than Rich Harden is silly. Hmm..would you agree to DeRo as 'best use of money' by Hendry? Well some of our impact rookies probably fit that category, like Soto, but that's not really a financial decision that Hendry had to make. As far as "best value free agent signing"...I could probably get on that one. The thing is, that aside from position versatility, I think fontenot is essentially the same player as Derosa offensively. Derosa has about twice as many AB's, and I know that doubling Fontenot's AB's wouldn't guarantee that his stats would exactly double, but it'd be close. I like Dero, and he's done a great job, and I like him on this team. I just think he's a really nice complementary player though.
  17. What's BABIP? I may have an idea but don't want to sound like an idiot. Which asking about it might make me sound like an idiot anyways. Batting Average on Balls In Play I think.
  18. Nieves and Lannan are out. Cubs coming up.

  20. Lets be honest. It's Jason Marquis. If that fact alone doesn't jinx him throwing a no hitter, nothing will. 8-)
  21. Here's the MLB Gameday account of the Cedeno at bat: Called Strike Called Strike Called Strike Ball Ball Ronny Cedeno strikes out.
  22. Lee was stealing 2nd, the catcher threw it to 2nd and Soriano broke for home as soon as the ball left the catcher's hand. Did they still try to tag Lee, or did they just throw back home to try to get Sori?
