  1. Yeah...and I was trying to take an even SMALLER sample size of just the last 2 drafts...heh. I'm kinda taking the devil's advocate approach here for the sake of discussion, but I generally agree that early round offense hasn't proven to be his strength.
  2. Olsen and Forte in the last couple years. Jury is still out on Chris Williams. Maybe Angelo's getting better? I wouldn't trust Angelo to make the right decision on a first round skill position player, but I do trust him on the offensive line and finding talented offensive players after the first. Do you not consider TE a skill position? Or you think the Olsen pick was lucky?
  3. Olsen and Forte in the last couple years. Jury is still out on Chris Williams. Maybe Angelo's getting better?
  4. You're right about the D...hell, the 3rd string defensive backs had 4 ints...so at least they were doing something.
  5. I agree that that is a HUGE difference, but it's not all I see. Orton has been a far, far better decision maker, and has been much better at reading the defense, and audibling for the best play. Rex still may have the better physical gifts, but QB, more than any other position on the field, requires the right mental mindset, which is where Kyle beats Rex hands down.
  6. Why don't you think that D-Lee would waive his NTC to go to Boston?
  7. People say that Hester isn't the same because he's focusing of offense...yadda yadda. I think Hester isn't the same because he's not getting the same gaps to run through. I think Ayanbedjo was a much bigger loss than anyone realizes. This ST is just not the same...I don't know if one player makes that much of a difference, but so far, it appears it does.
  8. You know, it's funny that it's the D and special teams that were the problem today. I actually find myself having too much trouble criticizing much on the offense. I think Greg Olsen needs to learn to be a bit more physical in pass catching situations...he didn't look like he was fighting too hard on a couple of those endzone tossups. But that's really stretching for something. Orton looks like he could actually solidify the QB position. Kyle and Ron Turner were saying that the offense should have scored more, and that's noble, but the D couldn't get them on the field. The couldn't sack Matt Ryan one time? I think that had to do more with coverage than anything else though...Ryan was able to throw way too quickly because of poor coverage. Our secondary was shredded... Tillman and Vasher better get back.
  9. I went ahead and merged this with the Blackhawks season thread. We don't need 80+ game threads...it's not like the Bears where there's just 16 games. The Bulls only have one thread as well...that works fine.
  10. Fair enough. However, as Vanilla Ice pointed out a couple posts above, Mooses performance really didn't skyrocket until games 4 and 5...after Smith was back in full force. Maybe it's coincidence, but it strikes me as a more likely explanation than Moose suddenly remembering how to play football again.
  11. What good receivers did Moose play alongside in Chicago? Maybe Berrian? Maybe? Teams have to do so much coverage on Steve Smith, that Moose can probably get open a lot easier. I haven't watched enough of the games to be sure that's what's going on, but it seems pretty likely. Smith has been suspended most the season, but like Soul says, who cares what Moose does in Carolina, he stunk here. Smith was suspended for the first 2 games of the season. Not close to "most of the season".

  13. I want to know more about the confrontation...why would you get into it with Mark O'Neal of all people? I still chuckle to myself everytime I hear that name...my grade school PE teacher, then hs PE teacher, and assistant football coach to the hs Freshman football team was named Mark O'Neal.
  14. Not to pin too much expectations on a rookie coming off of an injury, and not to pretend that he's going to be a miracle savior or anything, but if we can play like this with a bad O-line, imagine what might be possible with Chris Williams in there.
  15. If it ends up being something more significant, then at least you've only lost a year with him...it won't be a regular spring training ritual.
  16. Monday October 6, 2008 2:36PM You should have emailed him with that. I think he'd actually address that in the Tuesday mailbag.
  17. Which one are you? Im just wondering. It is getting tough. I almost want to pick a bad team going against another bad team, but I don't want to blow it. I'm Kyle Orton's Neck Beard. I've picked "the team playing St. Louis" three times already...don't want to go to that well too many times. Hmmmm...Kyle Orton's Neckbeard was my fantasy football team name the last 2 seasons (not playing this season).... Name stealer! :P
  18. Unfortunately Jones didn't look all that good to me. He's done a few nice things. He's not a primary back anymore, but he's ok as a compliment to Forte. One of the huge difference I see between Kyle and Rex, and I think goony was getting at this, is that Kyle has some pocket presence. He'll step up in the pocket when the pressure is coming, rather than backpedal himself into a 30 yard loss. When Kyle gets sacked, it's a 5-10 yard loss. Kyle calls out the defense better, and when he knows they're bringing pressure, does a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly. He's developing nicely. I think it's going to be a fun season to watch him grow.
  19. Bears are the only team in the NFL to deal a NFC East team a loss this year. Well the only team not from the NFC East to do that anyway. ;)
  20. Hey there Mr. Buzzkill....as a Cub fan...I need this. Don't you take this from me.... ;)
  21. Bears vs Michael Turner should be fun. We haven't had anyone put up big running numbers against us this season...

  24. It's "baseball gods" escalation. It's like when drug users stop getting a high from one drug, and have to move on to something heavier The "baseball gods" are requiring more and more of a sacrifice. If a baseball stadium burns near anabiono, we know why.
