  1. I can't find the article on the site. Link? Yeah, if it was there, it's been deleted.
  2. The problem I'd have with Harden going first, you'll either A) have him go on 3 days rest for game 4 or B) have a 4th guy in the rotation. I'd rather it go Z, Harden, Dempster or Dempster, Harden, Z...so if you get to a 5th game, you have Harden on full rest. And if you don't get to a game 5, you have him with extra rest for the next series. I like Z or Dempster on short rest much better than Harden.
  3. Seriously? Yes, seriously. The Cubs without Wrigley Field just wouldn't be the Cubs to me. Wow. Even more puzzling about this is the fact that you don't even live anywhere near Chicago... Even if you did, though, I still wouldn't get it. I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, so I have spent many a day at Wrigley. Personally, I don't understand how anyone could not love Wrigley that much. It is legendary, a baseball icon. I'm not even a Red Sox fan but I would be pissed if they tore down Fenway. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like the history of great old ballparks like these. It's more than just a game to me. Would you be OK if they took away the pinstripes? Or changed their colors to green or orange? There are some things that should not be messed with. Change isn't always bad. They've tried things and then taken them away (Removing the names from the jerseys.) New technology has worked (How about them lights?). Honor the old, but embrace the new. I'm all for a new stadium. But then, I'm not as stuck on "tradition" as most. I'd be perfectly ok with them replacing home plate umps with Questec or something like it. Enforce the strike zone correctly. I'm all for replay on any controversial play. Baseball can honor it's past without being stuck in it.
  4. I haven't read this whole thread, so I might be repeating other things that have been said already... Our WR's are awful. With Hester out, we don't have a deep threat. None of our receivers could beat any of their corners all day, with the exception of the one slightly overthrown pass (to Lloyd was it?). Other than that, anytime Kyle threw deep, the corner was leading the WR. In fact, the one completed long pass to Lloyd was only because the ball was underthrown and it was easier to come back to the ball for Lloyd since he'd already been beaten by the corner. Olsen's first fumble was completely unacceptable. The second one hurt a lot more, but it was a really good punch out by Harris. WTF Turner? You run the ball 9 yards on the first Forte carry on that last drive, and then throw for 2 downs, including that pass to the flat that hadn't worked all freaking day long? Then when you do run, you use McKie? It wasn't like it was 4th and inches...it was 4th and a full yard, maybe yard and a half. Awful playcalling there. If Hester is out any length of time, that really hurts the WR core. Just the threat of Hester helps the other guys out there. What happened with Hester anyway? He got a little shove and he has bruised ribs? It looked like nothing. EDIT: I read now in David Haugh's article that 3rd and 1 was an Orton audible, and that it was called as a run. I guess Orton is the culprit there, not Turner. (Turner can still take the heat for the McKie run though.)
  5. We just aren't clutch in the area of coin flippiness.

  7. color me skeptical. jesus christ...fred miller, seriously? At least he'll be a backup, not a starter. But he'll probably get rotated in there on occasion.
  8. Fred Miller is back for a one year deal. He said he was playing on a bad ankle last year and was maybe at 40 or 50 percent. He says he's about 90 percent now after getting spurs removed, and will probably never be at 100 percent. Lovie says he had no idea. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-080910-fred-miller-return-chicago-bears,0,1473000.story
  9. I saw the speculation and am calling BS. The only indication that he's thinking this is coming from his mom - who I'm sure is not in the best of moods after her son was booed at home Sunday - while Titans officials and friends of Vince are saying he's shown no indication. The Titans' pbp radio guy, Mike Keith, was on the radio earlier today and was asked about this. He said he's spoken with Vince fairly often the past few days and Vince hasn't given him any indication whatsoever that he may be thinking about quitting - he even said he's been in good spirits. Keith also said the Monday Vince-hunt was overblown, saying that Vince was at a buddy's house that he often goes to for refuge from the media and spectators. Keith said they got some food and were hanging out there watching the MNF games. Keith also talked to the friend Vince was with and he didn't give any indication that Vince was in a terrible mental state. I'm sure Vince is struggling mentally right now - there are too many rumors to deny it - but I don't think it's that serious. Rex Grossman is unimpressed.
  10. Power Rankings Watch: ESPN - Last week 25, this week 15 Sportsline - Last week 24, this week 8. CNNSi and Fox Sports haven't published theirs yet.
  11. Not to mention that that drive was on a really short field thanks to Hester's endzone shenanigans.
  12. Forte-Jones could be an upgrade over Jones-Benson...but that certainly remains to be seen long term.
  13. Really? Not saying you're wrong, but where have you read/heard that talk? Peter King, specifically. Not the most reputable of sources or analysis, but at least getting a mention in the upper echelon already. Yeah...I really take his rankings pretty non-seriously. For one, 4 teams have yet to play this week...lol
  14. Really? Not saying you're wrong, but where have you read/heard that talk?
  15. I dunno, I'm not sure they can get in the "Best in the NFC" discussion until they beat the Packers and Vikings. These games are great, but they're early and we don't know how good these teams are yet.
  16. Funny what a good Sunday will do. 3 points for home field, so they basically have the Panthers and Bears even.
  17. Forget just Benson, how about A-Train, Enis and Salaam before him. Better vision, good burst. As raw said, Forte doesn't need a hole, he needs a seam. probably helps that he wasn't a training camp hold out like those guys were Probably, but he still had a run longer than any Benson had in 3 years. You can blame rookie seasons on training camp holdouts...but not subsequent seasons.
  18. Leading with the helmet will do that.
  19. Bears coaching gets a lot of credit. I loved the play calling on both offense and defense last night. Babich had Manning confused all night long. I lost track of how many times I heard Manning yell "Watch 55!" Hester's endzone play was an all or nothing moment. I know he's frustrated with them kicking away from him, but you still gotta play smart. Cute trick...don't do it again, especially since everyone has seen you do that against the Giants. Vasher had some problems overpursuing, but the secondary managed to prevent the big play. They mentioned last night that they are going to keep Mike Brown in pass coverage, and not have him up in the box since that's where he always gets injured. Probably a smart idea. Forte....stud. He really highlights how horrible Benson was. Great job hitting the holes, and making something out of nothing. The cutback to the left side when the hole closed on that one play was even more impressive than the 51yd TD run to me. Nice job O-line...didn't think you had it in you. The bad snap was on Kreutz. I'm starting to think the snap issues with Rex the last few years are on Olin. I needed this game to get excited about this season.
  20. Is that the Karate Kid song? How about Eye of the Tiger? Yeah, that's the Karate Kid song. Wow...this is the first time I've read this thread, and I can't believe someone took my suggestion on the very first page. I thought that this one would be obscure enough that it wouldn't have been mentioned. Bravo!
  21. I actually saw the last bit of Rome is Burning yesterday, and he pretty much said the exact same thing. He replayed Hester's opening kickoff return at the Super Bowl, and said anything other than kicking it out of bounds is a mistake. I hate to agree with that man, but...
  22. I don't think cubs fans should be saying that much can be extrapolated from a four game span of a 162 game season. At least not after these last four games ;) So wait, the Cubs can't talk trash after a 4 game sweep, but the Brewers can talk trash for being 4.5 games back? The Cubs may be in a bad stretch, and it may have been only a 4 game sweep, but it's still a lot more than the Brewers got as far as "rights to trash talk".
