  2. ....Making a whole lot less money.
  3. Omiyale is the one that scares me...
  4. As opposed to St. Louis I was gonna say, I really don't think people in Cincy are too envious of St Louis STL and Cincy are both [expletive] cities, but Cincy wishes they had a modicum of STL's baseball success over their past 15 seasons. LOL @ Reds44, why am I not surprised? This guy echoes the reaction of 99.9% of Reds fans in this town. "Love what he said, you go Brandon, love that fire, love that emotion, blah blah blah." Nothing to be said of "shut up and play." Rob Dibble's meathead schtick fits this town to a "T." Phillips probably shouldn't have been so public about it, but he was right.
  5. or during games between the Cardinals and other opponents. That would be very pro wrestlingesque. And yet that would compel me to watch the rest of the season. Then again, "Go Cubs Go" probably isn't the most intimidating music ever written.
  6. Hawks re-sign Nick Boynton to a one year deal at the league minimum, $500k. He made $1.5 million last year.
  7. Phillips calls the Cardinals "complainers" Phillips comes to the plate, and Molina walks out to him, complaining about being called "complainers". Skirmish ensues TLR complains to Walt Jocketty about the comments. Wasn't Phillips pretty much dead on?
  8. I'm sure he's talking about spending big bucks on 4 new relievers.
  9. I didn't see this posted anywhere... http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/4487
  10. So did the Reds all get together and each pick the name of an NL Central team that they need to come out and declare boldly that they hate them? Also, if he hates the Cardinals, how does he feel about Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds, Jason Isringhausen and Walt Jocketty?
  11. Second question first, absolutely livid. Apparently there's a potential for the team to be penalized against the cap in addition to losing the player. I might have felt differently if they'd voided it early in the offseason, so the Hawks hadn't already made all their moves to get under the cap.
  12. I thought that last year. Damn...good point.
  13. Football season always gets me excited. The combination of the last few beach days of the year, with no more 100 degree humid days, smaller crowds, and then driving home early Sunday morning to watch the games is just the best. I didn't really mean that wasn't going to get excited for football, though I certainly see how you got that from my post. I just meant that I told myself I wasn't going to let the Bears hype get me overly excited/optimistic about the Bears chances...but I can't help it. Yeah, but all the excitement about football in general inevitably awakens my suppressed optimism for the Bears. If they win their first game I'll have them penciled into the 2nd round of the playoffs. I hear ya man. And really, in mind this is a "can't lose" season, in a way....if you look really hard...and squint. If we win, we win of course....but if we stink, then at least Lovie and Angelo will be gone.
  14. No. Not unless he has a great week at Whistling Straits. His play right now combined with the distraction would leave him off the team if I were captain. I agree that's probably the smart thing to do if winning is the only goal. But if exposure and TV ratings are another goal, and we all know there are, there will be a lot of pressure on Pavin to at least offer Woods one of the captain's picks. He's also the best player. You can add another nobody to the bottom of the roster in his place, but you're probably better off seeing if Tiger can regain his form in a couple months. Maybe he needs a team atmosphere to do it instead of the world against Tiger situation he's been in since Thanksgiving. And the match format might help him out...easier to beat one guy than the field...maybe?

  16. I said I wouldn't do it, but the hype is starting to get me excited. I'm reading great things about guys like Forte, Tommy Harris, and Urlacher really playing like their old selves. And supposedly Major Wright is turning heads, and might even have a shot to start next to Chris Harris. I'm still way concerned about the O-line, so I won't get myself as pumped about the offense as I'd like to, but if we can keep everybody healthy, we might have fun watching this D again.
  17. Never heard of hex bar till I just looked it up.
  18. You were a true visionary.
  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadlift I would assume that's pretty standard...
  20. if a deadlift is the same thing we call it, then that's not very impressive. I knew a junior in high school who did 625, and he couldn't have weighed much over 200. Hell I did 525 and I weighed 180 pounds. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/knavkaDjEd-YiQAcxJSkrA/football-leads-cuspard-to-world-record-in-deadlift.htm This article is 4 days old, so your buddy should make sure somebody knows that he set a world record.
  21. It was on Sports Center last Monday when the news broke. The only person who has ever denied the texting saga has been Brett Favre and he obviously can't be trusted. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/07/31/ap.insider/index.html They were in practice when the news broke. It was afterwards that they had any reaction from the players and no one said they received the texts. There's no video anywhere online of it. Every Vikings message board I've seen has been asking who received them. The freaking local newspaper said they still can't figure out who received them and that NO ONE has admitted to it. Yeah...and the Allen quotes are "I'll believe it when I see it" or something similar.
  22. He's not on the Bears beat any longer, he writes the "In the Wake of the News" column for Trib. Yeah, I realize, but somehow that's made him Bears dumb.
