  1. Who caved? Bears give him more money or Todd Collins decide that being an NFL QB was a pretty good job?
  2. I'd let him go in a heartbeat if someone claimed him. He usually looks like he's barely trying. Think he's gone full Roger Dorn. Gives every tough ground ball that ole' bs. Good god, I would pay a lot of money if people could no longer use Bull Durham or Major League as the basis for their inane complaints. But how much would you pay if your third baseman would get in front of a ground ball? Bidding starts at just under $17 million, which means he got paid something around $104,000 to play today. Opening day 3rd basemen between Santo and Ramirez 1974 - 1976: Bill Madlock 1977 - 1980: Steve Ontiveros 1981: Ken Reitz 1982: Ryne Sandberg 1983 - 1985: Ron Cey 1986: Manny Trillo 1987: Keith Moreland 1988 - 1989 Vance Law 1990 Luis Salazar 1991 - 1992 Gary Scott 1993 - 1995 Steve Buechele 1996 Jose Hernandez 1997 - 1998 Kevin Orie 1999: Gary Gaetti 2000 Shane Andrews 2001: Bill Mueller 2002: Chris Stynes 2003: Mark Bellhorn Which of those guys would you prefer to have at 3rd base than Aramis? Because chances are, if you trade away Ramirez, you aren't getting an upgrade. Really...please...can we put a moratorium on Aramis trade ideas? Please?
  3. The speed was good, but it was the cut to avoid that last defender that really impressed me.
  4. Williams got burned a few times, but like Kramer said on tv...they'll probably give him some help if something like that happens in the regular season. I was pretty pleased with the O-line overall. There was some running room to be had. They weren't perfect by any stretch, but I'm seeing some improvement. It was fun to see us call a sweep that worked. I don't think we had a single sweep play ever that worked under Turner. I was really worried about the defense early, but we seemed to settle down there. Daniel Manning may be a great athlete, but he sure sucks at coverage.
  5. This was the bit they played on Boers and Bernstein...
  6. From the link above... The last bit makes it sound like he's doing the Quarterback Club...the interview is from the 12th....*shrug*
  7. Paterno was just doing a press conference like a week ago. http://www.linebacker-u.com/2010/08/penn-state-media-day-2010-paterno-press.html He did a pretty funny one recently too...cuz Boors and Bernstein played a clip....I'm trying to find it...
  8. No he doesn't. His quote was about himself...not about the team. He doesn't want to play first. He doesn't have any realization about whether it'd be a good idea or not.
  9. I'm here to steal SSR's thunder, and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of bubble gum. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/08/06/SPG5CE459H1.DTL
  10. He's the kind of writer that should avoid the camera whenever possible. b/c I usually like his writing, but boy does he come off as a douche on camera Radio too...he's sooooooo smug. Like "I can't believe I'm having to talk to you morons"...
  11. Well, if they're going to pursue the option of him being a starting RF then he still needs more time out there. It's a catch-22 because I doubt this would even come up if he was a lock-down defender out there, but he's not, and RF at Wrigley is obviously a tough position to hold over the course of a season. If they're even considering him being the starter out there they need to focus on him getting playing time there instead of 1B. What if they just view Colvin as a strong bench option moving forward. Like you pointed out earlier, his numbers are coming back down to earth. Maybe they see him as a guy that can give some players a day off now and then and provide some roster flexibility if he learns another position (which we happen to need someone at for the rest of this season).
  12. The guy is very likely a huge tool, but I wonder what the point of having a vote is if you're going to get suspended for not voting for the right people.
  13. I would like more info on this...
  14. So I've seen a lot of praise for the prospects in this deal, but cnnsi doesn't seem very impressed... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/cliff_corcoran/08/18/braves.lee/index.html?eref=sihp
  15. I wonder how this affects BYU's decision now. If the WAC is dead, then will BYU go independent in all sports? If BYU stays in the MWC now, is the conference strong enough for an automatic bid?
  16. I wonder if Boise St would back out of the move to the MWC?
  17. First Base FA's this offseason per Cots...I added the lefty notation since that was mentioned earlier in the thread...
  18. also known as the 2nd most passing yards on the Bears roster. That, unfortunately, is not a selling point.
  19. 18 career passing yards.
  20. Lebron's GQ interview: So he hates Gilbert, but maybe he'll play for him again? What a bunch of BS.
  21. I posted the Bears ones in the other thread, but there's some good schedule wallpapers if you're interested... http://www.flickr.com/photos/cpardue/sets/72157624531637079/with/4862779613/
