    He's not going to be 100% for the game anyways. You think trotting out a broken down safety against the Packers receivers will work out? Broken down? lol He has a hip pointer. He'll take an injection and be fine.

    If I'm the Bears, I take the opening kickoff if I win the flip. I think it's important to try to score quick and play from ahead. The only thing that scares me about the game is if we get behind and half to throw the ball to catch up. If we can get ahead and run the ball, I think we win.

    Sounds like they just hate Marinelli and Martz. It's kinda understandable since they are both a part of their horrible recent history. But it's not like they squandered some great talent up there. They're also bitter about that first game of the season.

    If anyone is looking for a change of pace in the Packers-Bears discussion, I highly suggest Lions' blogs and forums. They really, really hate the Bears, and many of them are in quite the quandry with 4 teams they find it near impossible to root for.     Bah...I just grabbed the silliest looking Green Bay pic I could find. The fat guy was really just coincidental. But whatever...you like to trash talk, but as soon as someone comes back at you, you get all bent of shape.

    Not to go too far off topic and spout more of my typical Cleveland pity, but you're right. And, sadly, I've had more than one similar discussion about which of the Cleveland heartbreaks (Drive, Fumble, Shot, Jose Mesa, LeBron) is the worst. The game is three days away...all rational discussion has been had. It's stupid time for 3 days. No way around it.

    So you think the game would have equal hype/importance if it was the Eagles. From the bolded, he obviously doesn't think that. He's just saying the added importance from the rivalry doesn't outweigh the added importance from the chance at a first trip to the Super Bowl, or even a first SB in 21 years in 2006. I'm trying to think of an objective measure. Obviously we can't measure ratings from this game to ratings from 1986...too much has changed to allow bigger audiences now. But would comparing ratings from this game to the Bears-Saints game in 2006 be reasonable? (If those ratings can be found somewhere on the interwebs)

    I'm sorry but this is absurd. You are arbitrarily deciding that the only game that can match it is another Bears/Packers game. Yes I am because that's what makes it so important! Bears/Packers in the NFC title game is the absolute pinnacle of sporting games in Chicago and no other non-championship game can match it. The fact that it's the NFC title game is the reason it's so big. The rivaly only adds to the story, but it does not add anymore than when it was for their first trip to the Super Bowl. So you think the game would have equal hype/importance if it was the Eagles.

    I didn't post about it, because once I thought I about it, I realized the hype wasn't that big leading up to it, but I did consider that game. It was definitely the most scared I ever was of a Jordan-led Bulls team possibly losing in the playoffs...after they got that first one, of course. That was a scary game.

    Strange thing is that there is very little play on this anywhere. You would think that a team that made it to the divisional round would arrant some story when they fire a cordinator. But more play was given to Tom Cable coming in as OL coach and our DL coach leaving. Something is happening here. Bates was a reach to begin with and was a McDaniels protege so I understand that interest. I would rather go with a more west coast traditional coach given the roster that is set up. Well I heard there was another coach that had left the Seahawks because him and Bates couldn't get along or something. Sounds like Bates didn't play nicely with others.

    I'd guess you might get fewer PI's. Roughing the passer they'll probably still call, though hopefully they'll be hitting Cutler less than week 3. But PI's and holding are the only ones on there I would think they'd let "play through". Mayyyybe the late hit?
