  1. Antonio Cromartie, telling it like it is...
  2. Not sure why Muhammed and Taylor are on your list. Moose was ok but nowhere near the WR we thought we were getting from Carolina and showed up both Orton and Grossman when they were playing poorly/didn't get him the ball enough. Taylor spent most of the year dodging speculation that he was helping the Vikings by sabotaging the Bears. I would add Rueben Brown to the good FA signings. He was past his prime but he still had some really solid years with the Bears. I think Angelo thought he was getting another Brown when he signed Pace before last year, but that definitely didn't work out. Moose and Taylor were big name signings. That they didn't work out isn't really the point. The point is that Angelo isn't afraid to spend money in FA.
  3. Ha....Boomer Esiason rips Deion...talking about the Cutler criticism...
  4. yes, anyone? I'm curious as hell
  5. Yeah, it looks like this is probably a 6 week injury.
  6. Angelo signed Thomas Jones too, right? He also traded him for what, a 5th round draft choice? Well fine, but the discussion is about Angelo and his free agent signings. The point being that he's signed some good FA's in seasons past.
  7. Angelo signed Thomas Jones too, right?
  8. It could have been an abberation, but what if Angelo thinks "hmmm..that REALLY worked out well, that whole free agency thing. Maybe good things could happen again." We didn't think he'd trade for Cutler either.
  9. If they don't get a new CBA done in time, there won't be a FA period before the draft. They'll do the draft either way, but there won't be a period to sign FAs before that draft if no new CBA is hammered out in time. Even if there was one, teams wouldn't want to make any moves of significance because there'd be no idea what a new CBA would bring in terms of salary cap, franchising, etc. There's a lot of interesting scenarios too. The owners could decide not to lockout, and declare that the year will be played under the rules of the previous CBA, which would force the players to decide whether or not to strike.
  10. Too bad we don't play the Jags next season.
  11. Or not. If there's a lockout, there might not be any free agency prior to the draft, which will obviously make a big difference in how all teams draft.
  12. Also, there's not really any OT's in the first round that will be worth the pick...it'd be a reach.
  13. I'd need to see it again, but I thought he was diving to try to get to Urlacher because he was trying to make a cut.
  14. Taylor is most definitely terrible. Or at least, has been this season. He had a good game last week, but other than that, he's been awful.
  15. This...I'm not sure why a linebacker is trying to dodge a QB. It was a chance for a free shot at Rodgers too. At least stiffarm him. Hard to criticize Brian's game though.
  16. Or the Packers. McCarthy did the same thing once or twice, which is even stranger than Lovie doing it. Our 3rd down and short playcalling is easily MM's worst feature as a playcaller. Holy mother of god. I'm really not sure where to find it, but I know stats like this exist. I'm pretty sure we have to be among the league's worst at converting on 3rd and 2 or less. Seems like Bears and Packers fans both say the same thing about our coaches every time we square off. When it comes right down to it, the difference in the game was a pick 6 from our 3rd string QB to the fattest guy on the field. I know Bears fans are upset, but really, it could've been a whole, whole lot worse with the way that game started.
  17. ... You realize that the students that were there during the Keady years are not the same students that are there now, right? Yes, I'm aware, but you have never seen that dropoff in student/fan support at IU or any other dormant basketball powers. I don't watch a lot of IU basketball. Or other sucky basketball teams for that matter.
  18. I'm actually not convinced Rice will re-sign in Minny. But that might be wishful thinking.

  20. After Green and Jones, I'm not sure there's much in the way of immediate impact guys in the draft. Jon Baldwin probably won't fall and I'm not enamored with a lot of the others. If you're looking for a WR to come in and produce immediately, FA is probably the better way to go. If you can get a FA to come in and want to work with Cutler. That's my fear right now, with this whole "Cutler is a quitter" mess, is that it will affect the offensive free agents that are willing to sign with the Bears.
  21. It'd also be nice to get a big OL or 5. Definitely. But getting someone that can get open in coverage so Cutler doesn't have to hold the ball all day long will help protection too. I presume AJ Green and Julio Jones will both be gone. How's the WR class after that? Not as strong as I'd like with a couple of guys going back to school. But there's still some guys available....there is just more disagreement about them.
  22. I don't think Mankins is going anywhere, though that'd be awesome. Lovie is definitely enamored with him.
  23. Jesus Christ on the cross....I said it's brutal stuff i.e. it's wrong/unfair I guess I should have had a 15 paragraph disclaimer saying that I think the "Cutler is gutless" type stuff is out of control and only idiots would think he doesn't have heart, etc., before posting that. Or just don't post it. sorry...you should have got on the guys last night for posting all the negative tweets by NFL players. A 15yo creating funny pictures in his parents basement isn't quite the same as NFL players collectively ripping into the starting QB in the NFC Championship. Slightly different levels of newsworthiness there.
  24. Whether the result of the play worked or not is (or should be) irrelevant as to whether it was a good idea or not. Chances are very low, unless the Bears' punter is excellent at that sort of thing, that the punt would have been pinned inside the 5. The much more likely route of success was to go for it or kick the field goal. I understand what you're saying that many people wouldn't have questioned it at all if the ball had been saved there, I just still don't think it's the right call even if you do end up pinning them on the 1. Agreed. Coaching in that game was not a strong suit for the Bears.
