  1. I like Dugout chats because they seem to pay attention to the same pop culture stuff me and my friends love. (Points to Leroy Jenkins joke, innumerable jokes with names, Ken Griffey as the bad guy from Unbreakable, etc.) Which one has the Leroy Jenkins joke??
  2. Where's the realistic part??? I kid, I kid. I think the Cubs may be able to catch Milwaukee and Houston. Beyond that, I'm skeptical.
  3. First my fantasy team loses D-Lee, now Oswalt....wtf??
  4. First my fantasy team loses D-Lee, now Oswalt....wtf??
  5. Like a "report this post" button that would come up with a comment area maybe?
  6. Yeah, they crucified him when he didn't ph for Marshall. Not only that, but they repeated it several times, and even had a video montage of Marshall missing his bunt, Cedeno messing up the squeeze, and then Rolen driving in 2...showing how the inning had turned the game around. Great way to highlight the Cubs ineptitude.
  7. The Cardinals announcers are doing a nice job of pointing out Baker's glaring inefficiencies tonight.
  8. Well how do you know if anything popular is actually funny by that theory? Maybe Blues Brothers or Spaceballs or Spinal Tap aren't actually funny, it's just the stuff you wrote.
  9. Everyone in this thread needs to cut the personal attacks. If you don't like an opinion, fine. Feel free to explain where that opinion has gone awry. But personal attacks are not tolerated. Consider this a warning to everyone. Next step is locking the thread.
  10. i don't think it was about whether or not he was going to jail and if they would have to pay the three days he would stay there, but rather more about the potential black eye on the organization that sort of incedent would cause, and the effect throughout the whole ballclub as a result of that. Oh, well, I guess I just didn't think the rest of the team would get really emotional over it. Did it hurt Atlanta's record? I can't recall. We don't exactly have Bobby Cox and John Scherholtz, do we? :P
  11. I'm not even sure what you're arguing here. Are you saying we shouldn't criticize a manager for decisions that we think are incorrect, just because there are possibly variables that we aren't aware of? In the case of Baker, he's been making bad decisions for at least 4 years, and probably longer if you ask SF fans. The fact that bad decisions sometimes end in good results doesn't mean they aren't still bad decisions. Have these mysterious variables existed for Baker's entire tenure? Even if they have, we can only form opinions based on what we know. If this mysterious information comes to light that shows that Baker was somehow correct in these decisions, I'm sure there will be a large portion of those doing the criticizing that will admit their mistake. I don't think that will be necessary though. How are we to "dig deeper"? We have a beat writer and a broadcaster (among others) posting here. We all regular read the newspaper, all the quotes from all the relevant parties, and keep ourselves tuned into all the baseball sources that we can. What exactly is it that you propose that we do? Since you think that "fans not digging deeper" is somehow a fault, please...give us an option to correct this.
  12. He was a pretty decent player, surprised he's no 10 though. What does his being on deck blahblahblah have to do with this? I hear he's on the top 10 toothpick chewers list as well. He wouldn't have made the list, except that...stop me if you've heard this one...he was the guy on deck when the Braves' Hank Aaron hit his 715th home run... Clearly that makes him better at toothpick chewing.
  13. Why do we want Wood to be of high value? If he's low value, then we can re-sign him much cheaper in the offseason since he's not going to get big bucks from these teams that view him so poorly. If he's got a high value, we just lose a high value guy to another team. He's got a NTC so he's not going anywhere.
  14. Am I the only one who got this? Really quite clever and amusing way of calling someone a name. I don't get it. :? Please enlighten me. If you guys want to converse about this over PM, by all means go ahead, but it's not really on topic, so lets not continue it here.
  15. Rosenthal is bad, this article not withstanding.
  16. I thought this as well. It only looks bad on him.
  17. Maybe in Bizarro World. I've been living in Bizzaro World. I've actually found myself rooting for losing streaks to continue in order to get management fired. I actually laughed at the Neifi botched relay last Friday while I was sitting along the 3rd base line at Wrigley. Somehow putting Neifi in the ASG is hilarious to me. The Cubs have done this to me.
  18. If you vote for Neifi, I'll vote for Freddy. :) BANEDON!!! you will give Dusty MORE reasons to play the guy!!! I don't think he needs more reasons. Besides...I'm bored...and Neifi in the All-Star game would be flat out funny. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32334 viewtopic.php?t=32334
  19. If you vote for Neifi, I'll vote for Freddy. :)
  20. Jones and Briggs both showed upat minicamp.
  21. HA! Ok that's funny.
  22. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere...I haven't seen it if it was....from Barry Rozner's column in the Daily Herald today... I really find it hard to blame the Cubs if that's true.
  23. Paul Sullivan's take: And here's how Kent McDill of the Daily Herald put it: Funny, there's no mention of Zambrano's anger being directed at Dusty... Perhaps that's because Z only talked about his performance and not about Dusty pulling him (other than to respond to a question by saying it was his decision). Not a first for Sullivan, though. But don't forget Kiley (link in my previous post)
  24. I imagine he thought Detroit would figure out his ineptitude faster than Chicago.
