  1. It's just not as floatie as it used to be. :P
  2. Acquiring Nevin improves the chances that one will be needed? They've needed a difference making bat for years now, I don't see how Nevin's arrival affects that fact at all. I think the argument is that it helps them get back into a place record wise where a difference making bat can....well...make a difference. But that's just my interpretation of that. My interpretation is that Nevin, in all probability, will not help the team much so the team will still need a difference maker this season. Just was giving my interpretation of the particular "argument" above...didn't mean to imply that I thought that was true. It's a case of too little too late for me. I'm not upset with the Nevin trade, but neither am I excited about it. It's like the Titanic sinking with a ton of other ships nearby, and instead of asking for a lifeboat from one of them, we ask for a deck chair.
  3. I didn't ask your direct question, but I said something genius like "why hasn't everyone been fired then??"...and he basically said he coudln't understand it either. He also said no one listens to Rothschild anyway, he's just there...sad state of affairs I'd think. Didn't Hendry make Dusty keep Rothschild whe Dusty signed on...probably has them tied at the hip and they'll leave together. My confusion is more...why did they give Rothschild a new contract instead of letting him go to Detroit?
  4. My question is why didn't we trade Prior straight to the Rangers. Teixeira>>>>>>Tejada. We already have Lee at 1b...where you gonna play Teixeira? Tex could play the OF. Hell, I'd put him at SS just to get the bat in the lineup. Well...we've tried fielding an entire team of second baseman..time to try first basemen?
  5. My question is why didn't we trade Prior straight to the Rangers. Teixeira>>>>>>Tejada. We already have Lee at 1b...where you gonna play Teixeira? Tex could play the OF. He's only played 32 games out there. I don't think Hendry is that kind of "out of the box" thinker...

  7. I was at Friday's game, and booed him losing that ball in the outfield. I'll admit it. But all boos were more directed and general Cubs incompetence more than any individual. Except Neifi. All Neifi boos were directed right at him.
  8. Pittsburgh has scored 52 more runs than the Cubs, and allowed 2 fewer runs. If things keep going as they are, I don't think it will be long before the Pirates take 5th place.

  10. Ah, but I didn't say he shouldn't, I just don't think he will.
  11. Eep! What's the NL going to do?
  12. Optimist. Ooooooh burnnnn.
  13. D-Lee can't come back fast enough...
  14. Hopefully that means that the rumors of him already having a deal are not true. No, it probably just means he won't be announcing it right now, because the Cubs didn't win 3 games in a row. As soon as they do (and they will, sometime), he will be officially extended. Stop stepping on my dreams.
  15. How do we know he didn't mean the Arizona Cardinals?? Just for arguments sake...
  16. [sarcasm]How in the world will the Cardinals win with their ace and one of their power bats on the DL?? No manager can manage a team with guys on the DL.[/sarcasm]
  17. Hopefully that means that the rumors of him already having a deal are not true.
  18. With the Nevin deal, I doubt Hendry will be looking at Wilson now.
  19. If you want fun and nostalgia then I'm all for Zim. If you want wins then I'm against hiring Zim. The '89 season made him look better than what he was -- and if it weren't for career years by Walton and Smith, we wouldn't have won the division. If you want to bring back somebody it should be Dallas Green as GM. If the stupid Trib (I think it was Stanton Cook) wouldn't have given him the ultimatum of being field manager or leaving, we would've at least made one WS (maybe more) appearance -- definitely more postseason appearances than what we did. He's still the best Cub GM in my lifetime. He got productive players and still was able to produce top talent in the minors. If we're just gonna hire another terrible manager after Baker, then I'd rather go for Nostalgia + Suck rather than Suck all by itself. Sorry...I'm all about the pessimism these days. :P
  20. Kiley agrees with Sullivan.
  21. Zimm would be fun..:)
  22. He's a scout for the Mets...maybe they really want to trade us David Wright for A-Ram!!! :D =P~
  23. I have the exact same problem.
