  1. I'm not really sure there's any new info in this area, though this article doesn't really paint a happy picturefor the Trib. Still, no indications the Cubs will go up for sale.
  2. I think people are just realizing that there's a strong chance that he may not regain the form we all hoped he would. I'd be absolutely thrilled if I'm wrong.
  3. Ah, the silver lining. And she did beat the throw and eventually score, so she's got that going for her too. Speed kills.
  4. I'm with you completely. I really wanted to see the old Kerry come back. He was a huge part of what really got me to my full Cubs obsession level that I'm at today. Kingman and Buckner sucked me in. Sandberg put the final nail in the coffin. Them sons a... Oh I've been a Cubs fan since I was old enought to understand baseball in the early 80's. But I was still a pretty casual fan up until the 97-98 area. The combination of Kerry, Sammy, and the wild card run meant I had no escape.
  5. Not to be a jerk ripping on 4yo's or anything, but even if she'd "gotten a hold of one", wouldn't have still been probably a groundout to an infielder? Or am I underestimating the pop of a 4 year old?
  6. I'm with you completely. I really wanted to see the old Kerry come back. He was a huge part of what really got me to my full Cubs obsession level that I'm at today.
  7. He's shown me plenty in the minors, and hasn't enough opportunity in the Majors to show me much of anything. I don't know if Hill is going to be great, good or even average, but I'd like to see him get more of a chance. It's sink or swim time. I agree with you. Don't forget he's 28 years old. He's as old as Kerry Wood for god sakes! Or he's 26.
  8. He's shown me plenty in the minors, and hasn't enough opportunity in the Majors to show me much of anything. I don't know if Hill is going to be great, good or even average, but I'd like to see him get more of a chance. It's sink or swim time.
  9. I say it right now. Hill will never be a effective starter. There I said it and I will stand by it. I hope that I'm wrong....I really do. That didn't answer my question. It was a yes or no question. Is there any way, in your eyes, that Hill could EVER earn another shot?
  10. Struggling with control is part of the struggles of a young pitcher. It's not worth the argument because you haven't made a lick of sense if you insistence that Rusch is the only option. Again, if we had a pitcher in the Minors that is clearly ready for the show then by all means bring him up! But we don't and here we are... How do you determine if a pitcher is ready for the show? Hill has dominated in AAA. Wouldn't that indicate he's ready for the show or at least ready to get a chance to show what he can do? Better yet, is there any circumstance, ever, in which Hill would get another chance to pitch in the big leagues by your standards cubbiechris?
  11. Actually, they are. They just aren't the options you would choose. And that's fine. I disagree strongly, but that's fine. But don't say they aren't options, because it's flat out not true.
  12. Blame Furcal. It's much more therapeutic, especially with Furcal having turned down the Cubs in the offseason.
  13. I think just US spoilers, although it will depend on the matchup. So you'll be TIVOing US games and any extra "good" matchups?
  14. I don't want Rusch starting tonight, but again who else do we have? What do we do Bring up Hill for another walk filled start and send him back down? I mean what choice do we have... Do you honestly not see how a young kid with potential struggling is different from a crappy veteran struggling for the umpteenth time?
  15. If that happens, I honestly believe he would wind up dead in a hotel room somewhere. We're talking about baseball players, not tough guys. This isn't the mob. Well they were gonna use a baseball bat to whack him.
  16. Wood is not going to start on Sunday you can book it. The guy is seeing a the doctor about his arm as we speak. Murmol will start on Sunday. Except Hill won't give up 3 runs in 5 innings. He'll give up 6 runs in 2 innings. You know a lot. Do you have tonights lottery numbers?
  17. Actually, that's not correct. They're assuming he would take that spot, if Wood misses that start, which hasn't been announced, and may not happen.
  18. For those of you that are going to try to avoid spoilers during the day...are you going to just avoid US spoilers, or all spoilers?
  19. Marmol MAY pitch Sunday if Wood is bumped. But he hasn't been yet. Nonetheless, they are probably saving him for that. Meanwhile, at least putting Hill or Guzman out there helps develop them. I'd rather see Hill give up 3 runs in 5 innings than Rusch.
  20. Wow...the plot thickens: Sounds like they're pretty determined to take Bonds down.
  21. Actually Neifi's autograph is on the team ball...which is very crowded with 29 sigs on it. And I was all excited about my ball with just Sean Marshall and Matt Murton... :P
  22. Because Lee set his own goals a bit too high, and a lot of people believed his estimates rather than the trainers/doctors estimates.
  23. Both Eyre and Ohman were a riot when I was at the Cubs/Braves game that Neifi blew. Ohman even hammed it up for a photo op for a gal in the front row. Fun guys.
  24. Bruce's article says he won't even swing a bat for the first time till next week.
