  1. Hey, yeah....let's make fun of the guy that's carrying the Cubs offense right now. He was being sarcastic. Also, Aramis, Barrett, and Walker have all been hitting pretty well recently. "Carrying the Cubs offense" might be pushing it.
  2. Perhaps you should re-read my post as well! I said those were "just from the first page of the Baseball Discussions forum. I didn't go through hundreds of threads, and neither did you to see how many there were. You've made no point on this thread, other than you want to give us all a nice "I told you so". Cookie for you.
  3. hey, leave the geese out of this! Yeah, leave them the flock out of it. Stop it...you're making me gaggle.
  4. Then you aren't looking. jacque...too bad he isn't playing CF http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32506 viewtopic.php?t=32506 Jacque Jones a potential allstar? http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32488 viewtopic.php?t=32488 Jacque's live bat http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32394 viewtopic.php?t=32394 Those are all just threads on the first page of the Baseball Discussions forum. Might wanna take a gander through the threads before posting stuff like this.
  5. Leroy Jenkins is from a World of Warcraft video. A bunch of guys carefully planning a dungeon raid, going so far as to calculate odds of success, and finally one of the guys jumps up, and shouts "OK! Let's do this! LEEERRROYYYYY JENNNNKINSSS!"...runs into the room and ticks off a room full of dragon whelps, leading to a hilarious scene of guys trying to be in control, but just panicking and failing miserably. If you don't play the game, it still might be funny, but probably not in the same way. It was a pretty big thing for a while though...probably last summer if I remember right? [geek]Totally staged, though. the person who was recording it was fooling around at least as much, if I recall, and their plan was far too stupid to be real. Now "-50 dkp" guy is real[/geek] Oh there's no question that the Leroy thing was faked. That doesn't make it any less hilarious. I haven't seen -50 dkp...got a link?
  6. Marrero screwed up his knee really good in a Cub-Card game when it was raining cats and dogs at Wrigley too.
  7. I thought there were a couple of spots on that review that would need to be updated in the future. For example, of course "trading up" is going to be damn near impossible right now. It's brand new!
  8. I wish you'd make some longer posts, Fred. Ya know...something with substance. :P
  9. LOL....found it.... http://www.progressiveboink.com/dugout/archive/dugout12-4-05.htm

  11. There was a quote when the trade was made where Nevin said he wouldn't feel real comfortable catching, because he hasn't done it much in quite a while. Paraphrasing of course.
  12. I'll admit that I once agreed with the "back up the truck" philosophy, but I've since re-thought it. I still think pretty much all management needs to go, but we still have players that are worth holding onto.
  13. What's your phone number?
  14. I didn't mind that they were on at 3am. It meant I was guaranteed to see the games. :D My casual interest meant that I was guaranteed to not see them, as I was surely not getting up early for it. This way I can record it when necessary and watch it when I get home.
  15. In '04, the Cubs were 50-40 in the Central, 15-15 in the West, and 16-14 against the East.

  17. I'm glad the matches are at least at more watchable times this year. They were at like 4am or something crazy last time right? <---Soccer n00b

    Lee?

    From a June 3rd Sun-times article:
  20. Early odds for the season. Fun stuff:
  21. Admittedly I'm no minor league guru, so I thought I'd run this by you folks and get your impression. This was a Dusty quote referring to Marmol: Do you guys think that's accurate? Is AA more competitive than AAA?
  22. [senseless optimism] Yay! We won a series against the first place team! And the Astros have lost 20 of 28! We're on our way! With Pujols out, the Cardinals should fall back to the pack! Here come the Cubs! [/senseless optimism]
  23. I know we've had this discussion before, and that there are those that believe that ownership doesn't have an affect on the team beyond the payroll, and I understand that point of view. The Tribune has contributed a payroll that should be enough to be successful. But I want an owner with this kind of enthusiasm for the team. I truly believe that the Cubs won't win a World Series with the Tribune for ownership. I really, really hope I'm wrong, because I also don't see them selling anytime soon.
