  1. I can feel the anger stirring in you now. Now let go of your anger. Only your hatred will destroy me.
  2. I doubt Womack is going anywhere until Dusty does.
  3. Has anyone else stopped watching the games for the most part? I feel like I'm wasting my "not at work" time by watching them. I check the score, and check the boxes on my favorite guys, but I haven't been watching the games (at least not all of them) for some time now. Heck, I watched the first couple innings of Prior's start and look how that turned out for me.
  4. Jones has been the Cubs best hitter during the past two months. Right now, based upon his stats and his salary, he is a relative bargain. Also, he is just entering his prime, so I believe (though many disagree with me) that he can keep this up. Right now he is on pace for a .290 average with 30 hrs. That's pretty darn solid for $5 mil. Sure...but the Cubs aren't going anywhere this year, and he's signed for 3 years. It's a salary dump. What if he goes into a slump similar to the one he had at the beginning of the year? Sell high.
  5. Ozzie better get a big ol suspension. He's been wanting to intentionally hit someone for a week.
  6. Make this deal yesterday. The only downside, is who replaces him? Pie isn't ready. Mabry full time?
  7. I do. I'd send Wood and Prior together to Texas for that Koronka guy, he's pretty good. Shows up, anyway. Ohhhhh...I see what you did there!!! Clever.
  8. cubs fans shouldn't be making fun of other teams that don't win championships. Well Bulls fans can so screw you. Consider this a warning. Knock off it off.
  9. It's less likely that Bynum will become a GOOD big leaguer. Are you seriously suggesting that Bynum has the same potential as Murton? Because I strongly disagree with that.
  10. What is it going to hurt to let him play every game the rest of the year? Either you're right, he stinks, and he tanks the rest of the year, and we're no worse off than we would've been anyway, or he does ok, and is a good throw-in in a trade somewhere, or he figures it out and starts hitting like crazy, and we reap the benefits. There's really nothing bad that can come out of letting him, and the other young guys get out there and either prove, or disprove their value.
  11. I was listening to the Score on my lunch, and heard them mention that Tony La Russa was going to be in town, and that Hawk Harrelson had fired La Russa from the Sox when Harrelson was GM. I had know about TLR being manager of course, but didn't know that Hawk had been a GM. That surprised me. So I went and looked up Hawk's wikipedia entry. He was only GM for one season. Was he that bad that he was only GM one season? I'm not even sure how you manage to pull that off. Anyway, I got a chuckle from the "catchphrases" section at the bottom of the wikipedia page. Lots of crazy stuff there. That doesn't even make any sense. Not like the rest of them are full of in depth analysis.

  13. If he's fired now though, perhaps guys like Murton would get to play every day instead of being platooned with a Freddie Bynum. Or maybe they would actually pitch some young guy instead of Rusch the rest of the year. Baker can do more damage to this team, even when they're losing, by continuing to put young guys in positions to fail.
  14. I've said this before and I'll say it again. If people think that Giles was never going to come to the Cubs because he's a "west coast guy", what makes them think Zito is going to come to the Cubs? Sure, he could get traded, but there's no reason to think he'd sign long term. He's a west coast guy...him and Giles should start a club. That's right. Bigbad, this contradicts your thoughts on Giles. There was some sarcasm in my post.
  15. Mariotti says the "B" word twice in his article today. FYI for all the concerned parents.
  16. Linky? Page isn't loading now, but it's usually here. Yep...that's the right link.
  17. They're my 2nd favorite team. "No, you're schmoopy."
  18. But like Bruce says in his article today, there's no indication that Hendry will not let Baker manage with a fully healthy roster, and since it doesn't look like Lee will be back till July, I'm not holding my breath on anything happening soon.
  19. The bounces are just about to start going my way man.
  20. I've said this before and I'll say it again. 21. It's just 2 much!!!! EDIT: This is it...this is all I got for the minor league board...I offer advance apologies... :P
  22. He didn't do half bad in his 4 shutout innings in the big leagues too. Don't forget about Ricky Nolasco while you have that drill handy. Florida's rotation could easily be 4/5 former cubs by the end of the year. Willis Nolasco Pinto Mitre They actually have a pretty good staff, other than Moehler. Some pretty good hitters too. I've enjoyed watching them lately, unlike some other team... But we've got Juan Pierre, Matt Clement, and Antonio Alfonseca... :hammer:
  23. I honestly expect no less. I bet Baker/Hendry are kicking themselves right now for getting Nevin instead of waiting on Snow.
  24. I hope that no one's kids read the Tribune, since they printed the exact quote. Where's the outrage over that? That said, it's long overdue to get rid of the 7th inning singers. Just play a recording of Harry. I think everyone involved would have a LOT more fun with that.
  25. Another dinger off Glendon Marshall. ouch
