  1. The main reason we want to make this move is so that we're no longer the little brother. As long as we stay with Texas that will always be the case. The SECede shirts are over the top but if it helps get the message to our administration that we're fed up with the status quo then it's all good. I guess you won't be little brother anymore. I'm not sure what you'll be in the SEC, though, when you're getting pounded annually by Bama, Florida, LSU, Auburn, etc. Is that really a better move for aTm? Well if you look at it that way it wouldn't seem to be a good move, but I think we can be competitive. You may look at our recent history and laugh at that, but when I was in school (mid 90's) we were pretty damn good. I think we held on to RC Slocum too long and we started to slip. Then we made the worst hire ever in Dennis Franchione who drove our program into the ground. Mike Sherman has done a great job in a short amount of time to bring us back to the Top 10 (yes, I know pre-season rankings mean [expletive] and we need to prove it on the field). I realize that the SEC is an extremely tough conference, but we are set to field our best team in probably 15+ years this season and I don't see any reason why we don't continue to get better. The SEC will almost assuredly bring us more money and will give us a recruiting advantage over Texas that we will never have as long as we are in the same conference.

  3. I'll believe it when I see it, but there are rumors out there that Texas A&M has notified the Big 12 that we are leaving the conference.

  5. Instead of reading what someone else says about Nunn's commitment status, you may want to see what he has to say about it on Twitter.
  6. Some interesting reading on the Longhorn Network. http://themidnightyell.blogspot.com/2011/08/documents-reveal-intention-behind.html
  7. For the record, John Reese does not currently have a job on our staff. He has resigned from his HS position and it is expected that he will be hired at A&M, but as of now he has no official job offer. As far as KU goes, are you sure it's only 2? I remember ESPN doing a piece about this practice & the Jayhawks were the main focus of the story. Baylor was prominently featured for the hiring of a John Wall associate in an attempt to get him.
  8. Sure would be nice if I could watch this game.
  9. Kendrick Nunn, 2013 SG from Simeon HS in Chicago, just committed to A&M and we didn't even have to hire any of his family members! http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1093100.html
  10. When Billy Gillespie was coach he promised a job to DeAndre Jordan's AAU coach to get him to come to A&M. Mark Turgeon honored that promise when he was hired, but I'm pretty sure the guy was gone after one year when Jordan went pro. It's not like I'm saying we're the poster child for college basketball ethics, but I truly believe this situation is different. The Reese's live 5 minutes away from A&M's campus. J-Mike is very familiar with our school & program. His brother already goes to school there. Our program has been pretty good for a while. And so on. But I'm sure I won't change your mind. You continue to believe that J-Mike never would have chose A&M unless we hired his dad. I don't really care.
  11. John Reese is highly thought of in coaching circles and has had the opportunity to coach in college before now. This isn't a situation where someone close to the player is hired to some made up position to get the kid. He is an assistant coach. John waited until his son made a decision on where hd wanted to play before accepting the job. Kansas has a long history of hiring people to get players (just ask Danny Manning's dad). I'm sure they would have hired Coach Reese to get J-Mike if that's all this was.
  12. Huge committment for new Aggie coach Billy Kennedy. Bryan guard J-Mychal Reese has chosen to play ball next year at Texas A&M. He chose us over Kansas & Memphis. He is from neighboring Bryan, TX and his brother is already at A&M. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/67053/j-mychal-reese http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-J-Mychal-Reese-70421 http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=3777352
  13. New QB Rating system does not like Jay Cutler. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6834591/nfl-tom-brady-led-nfl-qbr-2010-season
  14. What is up with all the home runs lately?????
  15. Is it in the shape of a football?
  16. Who is their QB and wouldn't they have lost a bunch of commits when Tressel left? Not sure on the QB, but how many true freshman make that big of an impact? This may be their last pre-season top 25 for a while, though.
  17. A&M gets Oklahoma State at home in game 3 and plays Arkansas at Jerryworld the following week. We'll see fairly quick if they are indeed a top 10 team. Win those and it could set up a monster game 11/5 at OU.
  18. You said 14 straight, right? We're almost there!!!!
  19. FWIW, the Wrigley tour was much better IMO than the Fenway tour and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Cub fan. We didn't get to go in the press box/clubhouse/dugout/luxury suite or anything like that in Boston. Then again, it was a game day so that may be part of an off day tour.
  20. I did it a couple of years ago and LOVED it. Pretty much what everyone else said, except they were setting up for a Billy Joel/Elton John concert so we didn't get to go into the visitor's clubhouse or the umpire's room. Sitting in the dugout was such a great moment for me. Watch your head, though. I wacked mine on the concrete ceiling in there. We took pictures with the bullpen phone like we were calling to tell Woody to get warmed up and drank from the water fountain. Either our tour guide was laid back or no one saw us because we didn't get any slack for it. They had the field roped off, but I bent down and touched the grass behind home plate without any issues, either. We wanted to go take pictures in the Bartman seat for a goof, but they would not let us go that far down in the seats.
  21. It's the [expletive] Longhorn Network. Of course they will be telling ESPN which HS games to show.
  22. So the Big 12 AD's met today and there will be a moratorium on HS games on the LHN for at least a year.
