  1. I wouldn't count on Oscar. But, getting Alzolay or Hatch would still be very cool. saw Hatch last go-round (wasn't impressed - but obviously only one game). Hoping for Alzolay this time. Plan to go to 2-3 of the 4 game set if possible.
  2. yeah, that's fair. just seems extra shitty today.
  3. YES! I'll be catching a few MB games next weekend and look forward to see him, Eloy, and De La Cruz (hopefully)
  4. butler, duensing, and now pena for two innings. is this joe just saying horsefeathers it because the offense doesn't look like it'll score?
  5. the cubs have a supremely talented roster. maybe they won't be "2016 good" but they will eventually run away with this division and then - like always - the playoffs are a crap shoot. that's the beauty of baseball is that things normalize after 162 games. Eh; 2015 Nationals say hi. Eh. I'm an eternal optimist.
  6. I fear this will be said a few months from now, too. They wouldn't be the first very talented team that underachieved greatly would they? the cubs have a supremely talented roster. maybe they won't be "2016 good" but they will eventually run away with this division and then - like always - the playoffs are a crap shoot. that's the beauty of baseball is that things normalize after 162 games.
  7. and they've been shut down by some scrubs but hoffman is a good pitcher
  8. the cubs are good. they just aren't playing well.
  9. only fake pessimism allowed in this game thread. please observe. thanks
  10. new strategy: get nobody into scoring position so we don't have to quibble about RISP averages
  11. Closer to a third of the way (37 percent), but otherwise agree.
  12. i've decided that i've 50 percent meatball personality at the moment and 50 percent teaming up with duke. this team is a bunch of pansies. they suck. they are horrible baseball players and - more importantly - horrible human beings. they don't deserve my attention (and that's saying a LOT because it doesn't take much to get my attention). a disgrace to the game and i hope ken burns makes a documentary about how terrible this team is and how they are the worst team to ever wear a baseball jersey. commence the comeback, now.
  13. This whole team sucks. It is a bag of asses. It won't be long before Bryant and Rizzo join the others in suckitude. working already
  14. fun fact: theo and co. drafted (the now injured) ryan williams after seeing him while scouting hoffman in greenville, nc
  15. as an ECU guy i hope hoffman has a long and glorious career. but i hope he gets touched up for a dozen or so runs today
  16. It's a recipe for sustained success; get them behind immediately so a lineup filled with struggling players presses even more. Add the bonus of battling just to have league average-quality defense, and VOILA: a treading water .500 team out of one that should be dominating fools. at this point let's just break out the fried chicken and beer
  17. This whole team sucks. It is a bag of asses. It won't be long before Bryant and Rizzo join the others in suckitude. *Cubs win this game 12-2*
  18. seriously *Duke says the cubs are, in fact, mediocre* ... *Cubs win 9 in a row*
  19. i love the fact the cubs are always trailing before they ever horsefeathering get to bat. horsefeathers
