  1. God damn I love me some Len but I also really love JD too: "Running the option! Decided to not go to the pitch man!" (Strop cover play)
  2. Nothing to contribute but just want to help this game thread to get to three pages.
  3. I'm just happy I'm beating PRT
  4. damnit - i wish I could have seen it
  5. Just turn it sideways Lol thanks. I'll get some more footage during the pre-July 4 series and be sure to landscape it
  6. If you guys want to just continue this one then mods feel free to edit the title and keep this party going. I'm chasing a child around the house and can't at the moment - his mom should swing by later before the game so I'll catch up at some point.
  7. probably a stupid question but do you mean just turning my phone sideways or is there some sort of mode to set it?
  8. Also, here is the poor-quality video of Eloy's double on Friday night. I have a better/closer footage of a later AB but he struck out in that one. But I'm happy to post it if anyone would like. The video quality is much, much better on my phone so I'm not sure why it's so terrible when I uploaded to Youtube. Also, please try to disregard the seemingly hundreds of people walking in front - I swear to God nobody actually sat in their seats they just aimlessly wandered about the park for the entirety of the game...
  9. Do you (or anybody really) have MiLB.tv (I guess it's called that?)? Is that how you're watching the games? What all Cubs affiliates are routinely broadcast on MiLB.tv? I'm considering giving it a go since I've kinda gotten bitten by the MiLB bug with the new team 30 min away (but still don't care about them - maybe I should but I'm all Cubs till the day I D-I-E)
  10. the cubs will float around .500 up until the ASB. then, like last year, will come out hot after the break and play 10-12 games over .500 in the second half to easily win the division.
  11. Just in my lifetime, Ken Griffey Jr, Omar Vizquel and (I assume) Ozzie Smith are better. Fair. Top 5?
  12. honest question: is heyward the best defensive player ever?
  13. i actually never understood the yankee hate. is it just overexposure from the media? i mean i am sure lots of people hate the cubs for that. i have a good friend that is a huge yankees fan and he always pulled for the cubs so i kind of return the favor for the yankees with him. plus i'm really happy for starlin. i would LOVE for a cubs/yankees WS this year. that would be amazing. Steinbrenners are truly awful humans Yankees fans are arrogant POS that think they somehow contributed to the 90s success. 80% of sports writers grew up as horsefeathers Yankees mantle myth pushing garbage people that perpetuated every wrong baseball opinion that ever existed. But I'm sure your friend is a decent guy. Yeah, the Steinbreenner thing is certainly fair and valid and i really only know the one yankee fan (my friend) so I can certainly appreciate that as well. And, eh, he's a decent guy but I'd stop short of calling him anything further than that. He can be a real dick but most of my friends are like that (I'm guilty, of that too)
  14. I just got back from Pittsburgh. Sorry I didn't start a game thread while driving you never had to stop for gas or to take a leak? smh
  15. Agreed. And to be honest the guy only turned on the gun at my request so it could've been a 10-15 pitch sequence for his sample. If Hernandez for DEWD was hitting 97 then IMO Rucker was not much further behind that at times. I was surprised when he said Hernandez was hitting that. I would bet money he at least hit 94 if Hernandez was reaching 97 - again, all with a grain of salt. He never looked at his times until the 4th inning. To your point, though, he did seem to die off a bit in velocity as the night wore on I thought. Which is partially what impressed me. If he can get a bit stronger (he has the mass to get stronger) he could easily sustain a bit longer. But, he still was able to get a ton of soft contact even despite that (I threw out a Hendricks "reference" (not a comp) to the scout a la "pitchability" but he didn't really know horsefeathers about Rucker so it was whatever). Basically, he just seemed like he knew exactly what he wanted to do and had a solid game plan. I wasn't able to go tonight because of daddy duty later and tomorrow is the little guy's second birthday (along with father's day obviously) so i won't be able to make that one either. MB will be back 6/30-7/3 so I will for sure get back for at least one or more of them. Henry (my son) did find my Cubs helmet that was the giveaway prize from the time I went to Wrigley when i was seven and put it on backwards so that was pretty cool today. At this point this is starting to sound like a diary so I'll call it quits. : )
  16. Nobody started a game thread so I did. Jake realized, apparently, after his last start against San Diego that he actually has to pitch well if he wants to be more rich after the end of this season. That trend continues tonight and through the rest of the 2017 season. The Cubs are going up against Ivan Nova. He has good numbers and I assume he's from Russia despite the initial physical appearance black. Cubs win 7-1.
  17. no game thread and 4 hours to go - should i start one?
  18. i never minded when they spent big and picked up free agents. I couldn't justify it in my mind that I would care if the Cubs had (which they kind of did with Soriano) so I couldn't hold that against them. but that was just me.
  19. i actually never understood the yankee hate. is it just overexposure from the media? i mean i am sure lots of people hate the cubs for that. i have a good friend that is a huge yankees fan and he always pulled for the cubs so i kind of return the favor for the yankees with him. plus i'm really happy for starlin. i would LOVE for a cubs/yankees WS this year. that would be amazing.
  20. And to be clear, I'm not saying I think Rucker is a better prospect than Hatch or his stuff looked way better or anything like that. Hatch just got hit much, much harder by the Wood Ducks than Rucker did last night. But, that was early in the year and it was just one game of course. I honestly think with better defense (especially behind the plate) Rucker could have shut them out. The second run he gave up was on a broken bat flare that had no business being a hit. He had a few hard hit balls of course but there was lots and lots of soft contact and broken bats.
