I said this before, but my feeling is that they are starting Glennon in the first couple of games with hopes that he will win them but with an expectation that, at the very least, the staff will have a couple of full games of film on the rest of the teams on their schedule. This will allow them to cram it all into Mitch's head over the next couple of weeks and months, thus giving him a grounding in blitz packages. They know that Mitch can identify defenses, but he just hasn't seen enough yet to throw out there, you know, being the most important player in Bears history and all. So, basically, they don't want him to get hurt if he misses an exotic blitz call and goes splat because he never had a chance. Glennon is the crash test dummy. There's just no other good reason to start Glennon. even being an NC state fan (therefore kind of pull for Glennon always - not like i care all that much, though) and a UNC hater (therefore am programmed that i should hate Mitchell) i completely endorse this post. i'm still amazed that nc state has four starting QBs this week in the NFL and have never been anything but mediocre (well except one year w/ rivers. think they finished like #10 or 12 but i haven't looked)

you sure did. egg on my face Bad luck. Just like Heyard has had (before the last AB) In all seriousness he looked fine for the most part. Some nerves. Couple bad HBP and air balling a catch at first. He wasn't anything close to great but 6 K in 3 IP is optimistic. I've never forecasted anything better than a #5 and he seemed like he has that upside at least.

all in all, after a few shaky moments (obviously) i really liked the overall repertoire for tseng. he's going to live and die by command. so it's not surprising that nerves of his first ML start would throw him off a bit. hopefully he settles down.

Yeah, he can still help us out. He's not a bad player. It' just that we have better players and they need to start. And he's the type of guy that can help out in different ways. agreed. he was signed originally (at least that was my impression) to be a contingency plan for almora. we have almora and happ and now joe's fallen in love with his smile or something while the other two outplay him. he's pretty much the perfect 4th OF for this team. ... he will go 4-4 tonight, now. duke and i will align our powers

tseng is going to pitch magnificently. I've been slow-playing his arise to greatness for years. Which "celebrity" would you miss most? It's a tradition (like it or not) that's going to survive. Trying to listen to Len and JD make awkward conversation with some random person sucks. Just play the damn video and get it over with imo Counterpoint: Harry Caray was horsefeathering garbage, Len & JD are hilarious and awesome, and them handling the guest is much more entertaining than placating the meatballs with a slobbering wreck. Ok. This I agree with completely. Though I never really had an issue with Harry. He didn't really add much to the broadcast but I was a dumb kid so it kinda evened out. I'm sure I would hate him now bc Len and JD (hell or even Bob) are so much better. But at the time I didn't care.
