  1. I beat ya by two minutes Vance in the Gammons thread in transactions.
  2. From ESPN Chat: Not exactly insider information, but it looks like the buzz with most of these guys is that Hendry will try to get a top tier pitcher by the deadline. And while I have my doubts we have enough to land C.C., the next step down are guys like Harden/Burnett or perhaps Lowe/Bedard who are still legit #2's or somewhat close (injuries aside).
  3. Just a quick nonrelated question, what's Tony Thomas' ceiling? Possibly better than E Patt?
  4. Can't DeRosa play 1st? I think he said it was his "least favorite" position, but yeah I would have to think he would be the first backup at first.
  5. I love both Bob and Stone equally
  6. Indians better lock down everything in the locker room and office. He plays at Pitt CC which is about 3 miles down the road and I've never heard of him. Of course, Freddie Bynum went to Pitt CC and I didn't hear too much about him either 8-)
  7. Cleveland drafts Lonnie Chisenhall??? He goes to Pitt Community College about 3 miles down the road! ETA: Whoops, meant to go in the general draft thread.
  8. Gordon Beckham looks like somebody who would be named Gordon Beckham. haha. There are way too many Gordon Beckhams running around this town.
  9. Is it possible that Selig has made it all the way to Commissioner of baseball without knowing how to read?
  10. That's exactly what I was thinking. He's got the frat boy haircut from hell. If they panned down I'm positive he was wearing nuthugger khakis and boat shoes. Must have taken a rare off day from wearing Croakies as well.
  11. Gordon Beckham looks like a frat boy
  12. Hm, this gordon beckham is a "baseball player" according to the experts. Think we should draft one of those?
  13. I know literally nothing about any of these guys being drafted, yet I can't turn away. Probably just a way to put off finishing my lit. review. At least you guys are here to give me some insight, thanks for that.
  14. Analysis of ESPN2 coverage of Amateur Baseball Draft: - Selig stumbles over name of draftee - "experts" break down draftee - terrible interview of draftee - awkward baseball related chit-chat... repeat
  15. One of my best friends is a yankees fan. He pulls for the cubs as his NL team because he wants to see us win. Not because of his sympathy rooting, but rather just because I just don't care about the AL that much....I sort of wouldn't mind the yankees getting to the playoffs. Plus who wouldn't like that extra yankees coverage on ESPN, am i rite????
  16. I actually find that kind of depressing. me and you both. I always liked Barrett, he seemed like a cool guy and I think he was really proud to be a part of the cubs. That said, I'm so much happier with Soto behind the plate.
  17. Two things: 1) Duke 68 Clemson 66 on the scroller ... yay David McClure and horrible refs! 2) I think there was some chemistry between Michael and Gail. They would make a cute couple. yay homecourt scorers
  18. Anyone who complains about the offense in the first few innings tonight should be immediately banned.
  19. no kidding. i walk around like a zombie during these west coast weeks. I went with the post dinner til 10 PM nap yesterday. I struggle taking naps. When I'm up, I'm up most days. Gotta strain my eyes and watch the rest of this one on my 15" monitor from bed. Here's hoping we go for #10 tomorrow!
  20. no kidding. i walk around like a zombie during these west coast weeks.
  21. Honestly, this was one of my first thoughts after last nights game.
  22. This is really my only problem with him as well. His handling of the pen last night was atrocious. He double switches and hit-and-runs way to often, but those are just some of those "old school" characteristics your going to get with some managers. As long as he doesn't single handedly ruin our pen *crosses fingers* I'm pretty happy with him.
  23. Well..... Ol' Man River's had himself quite a week there, no? 05/27 - 06/02 AB R H 2b 3b HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS BABIP P/PA RBI% Edmonds 15 3 7 4 1 1 7 1 1 0.467 0.500 1.067 1.567 0.462 4.31 0.400 I'd be happy with half of that OPS for the rest of the season.
