  1. Well, I finally finished watching the game (Tivo) Great game, it was everything I thought last years game would be (oops) quick thoughts Vince Young is an unbelievable college player, but to QB in the NFL he is going to have to fix his mechanics. It's not so much that he throws sidearm, but that he throws off balance and off his back foot all the time. He completed 30 passes today, and 10 of them were little 5 yard dump offs to his wide open tight end. He'll play in the league one way or another, he's too damn talented. And big. People get caught up in how fast he is, and they dont notice that he's bigger than LenDale White. He played amazing and they deserved to win. Leinart, on the other hand, was mostly terrific. He got out of his rhythym, and his mechanics bit the dust a few times, but for the most part, he was dialing it up. He's really impressive when he gets on a run because he just hits his receivers perfectly. Notice how many times Texas WR's caught the ball with one knee on the ground. Young throws off his back foot and leads his ball too low. If Young comes out this year, it will be interesting to see how he grades. Leinart will grade above Eli and Alex Smith, that's for sure. I wonder if the Jets will try to trade up to number one to take him ahead of the Saints, I'm sure Houston wants to trade that pick. Pete Carroll should have come to us for advice on Young, besides his freshman year (a game we won 65-13), he's never run the ball on us at all. In 2004, he was 8-23 for 86 yards and he had 54 yards on 16 rushes, and this year, despite killing our crappy DB's, he only ran for 45 yards on 17 carries.
  2. The improved morale really helped results form 2004 to 2005. If Walker hurt the team's morale, and thus hurt their chances, a less stupid GM would have chosen to stay with that gutty team guy Grudz when he had the chance instead of resigning Walker. Yep, should have kept Grudz. Too bad Hendry went the Moneyball route. :( Hendry, Moneyball? I'm sure he never read it, and I know he's never filled his roster that way. He missed the bible of baseball? Hard to believe. People are so ridiculous. Have you even read the book? Moneyball is about how a team with a low payroll tried to stay competitive in a division with high payroll teams by saving money and cutting out inefficiencies. It just so happened that a lot of teams undervalued the ability to get on base, so they capitalized on that. The book got popular, a lot of people learned a little bit about sabrmetrics because of it, and now some people are so afraid of their old beliefs being challenged that now you can't even mention obp without people getting their panties in a twist.
  3. Modzilla's avatar is the coolest one on this bd. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=900 Holy crap, that is sweet! I made Modzilla a signature a while back, but he/she declined.
  4. At this point in the off-season, I really just can't get too upset at the loss of Eduardo Perez. Signing him at this point would be like putting on a rain coat in a hurricane.
  5. NFC Wild Card round: #5 Panthers at #4 Giants #6 Redskins at #3 Buccaneers AFC Wild Card round: #5 Jaguars at #4 Patriots #6 Steelers at #3 Bengals NFC Divisional round: #3 Buccaneers at #2 Bears #4 Giants at #1 Seahawks AFC Divisional round: #3 Bengals at #2 Broncos #5 Jaguars at #1 Colts NFC Championship: #4 Giants at #2 Bears AFC Championship: #3 Bengals at #1 Colts Super Bowl: #2 Bears at #3 Bengals at Detroit
  6. I really cant stand Tirico as an announcer. His voice is so bland.
  7. I was really excited when I saw that we were going to get Reed. Until I read the rest of the sentence
  8. Adam Greenberg was on his way to becoming one of the game's best fourth outfielders? The fact that not a single team claimed him a few weeks ago strongly suggests otherwise and is telling of how much we (Cubs fans) overvalue our own guys at times. Yep. You've done a nice job in this thread. it really bugs me when people compliment each other for arguing the right points or whatever it is that is happening here. You're right on point with this statement. Good job Tree.
  9. we screwed this up
  10. Try again
  11. i know a guy named chris buckley. But he just drops acid all the time and freaks out.
  12. Weis is getting way out coached, and the ND receivers cant catch a cold.
  13. Hahhaahah, why in the world would a multi millionaire baseball player marry a stripper?
  14. I dont get the part about being mediocre after 94, hell, his final season, 2000, he posted a near 1.000 ops, almost 1.100 in his 51 game stint with the Cardinals.
  15. donkey punching them
  16. that would be Nike. I dont know wtf theyre thinking either. The pass interference call, I could go either way on. The one that I thought was mindblowingly terrible was the "AD fumble at the goal line" where he was stopped, rolled completely over, and then had the ball stripped. No way he wasn't already down. Oh well, a win is a win is a win.
  17. Yeah, those 150k cars are super affordable. I graduate from college soon, I'm expecting one for sure. The majority of america couldnt afford the insurance on these 3 cars, I know that this is just another way of saying "look at how rich I am", but come on.
  18. Here's to not setting your sights too high.
  19. i hope next year he beans him in his giant watermelon of a forehead.
  20. Man that sure was a clustereff of a 4th quarter. Bomar played a hell of a game, but Stoops looked like he was going to punch him in the junk for that stupid spike.
  21. What the hell, Jackson and Quentin are better and cheaper than Byrnes right now
  22. Naturally, Z gets blasted for that by most fans even though Bonds would have pitched a tent and stared at the ball for 30 seconds if he had hit a home run in that AB. Wasn't there a game in Milwaukee in 2003 where Z had a one-hitter going into the ninth inning? That's my favorite Z memory, because he looked completely unstoppable. The "should have been a no hitter for AZ"
  23. Will Clark is the proud owner of one of my favorite stats of all time. His 1987 season when he stole 5 bases and was caught stealing 17 times. Why would you keep sending him after that. Career .303/.384/.497 hitter. For me, he's in that tier below the HoF. I can't vote for a first baseman with an OPS less than 900
  24. Texeira is one of the game's top 5 young stars. He'll hit. Maybe Lee alone is worth more than those 2, but I don't believe he'll come close to repeating what he did last year. I think you'd be surprised what Pitt will do, especially for such high quality prospects. Pierre CAN be traded, and I think that Cleveland would make a move, if the compensation was right. All just my opinions, of course. In the last 3 years, Teix has posted a road ops over .808 once. There's no doubt that he's a good player, and if you're trading for him while being sure that he can play in the outfield, then maybe you do it. Bay will not be traded. END OF STORY. He just signed a 4 year deal in November that keeps him with the Pirates for less than 5 a year. No way they trade him. Sizemore is already better than Pierre. The Indians are primed to take the AL central, why would they want to downgrade one of their most popular players? It's a good bet that their GM realizes how overrated Pierre is, not to mention, Hendry went after him for a reason. He won't be traded.
